Review summary
This was our first cruise so of course all future cruises will be judged and compared by it. and let me just say those future cruises have a lot to live up to. The Carnival Triumph and it's crew did an awesome job. Even in the face of delays in the gulf they shined. The Captain and crew were wonderful. The boat traveled so smoothly, I had to be told when and where we were. I never once felt the boat touch the dock, and I've felt rougher waves in a pool. The cruise director threw a nonstop party, which was only a bother when someone propped the door open and I was too tired to continue dancing. (Note to self: get a room further from the Lido deck doors.) Our stateroom attendant ILHAN was awesome and he seemed to clean constantly. Each time we saw him he had a bright smile and only had one question: "Is there anything you need?" Otherwise he smiled and said, "Hi sir, have a good day!" The dinner staff was fun and attentive, several people in our party had special eating requests, not only did our main server Florence fulfill the requests, she remembered the rest of the trip. They instantly got to know us and addressed us by name (out of the thousands of people they also fed during the five days!) They took the time to preorder meals in advance in the event we received a different server since we opted not to have a set time to eat, so amazing! My only warnings to other cruisers are don't get the first cabin on deck 10 unless you want to listen to an air conditioner all day and night and the drink specials don't include tax and gratuity (ie, a $7.50 drink is actually about $9.50) It tasted great though so like I said a warning not a complaint and becareful because everything gets charged to your room and those folks will learn your name and what you like to drink and bring it often so watch your budget! Overall my best vacation so far, being detached from everything can be a great experience. Speaking of that our shore excursion was awesome as well. We did a beach buggy snorkeling adventure and our guides Angel and David were top notched, They kept us on schedule and haveing fun the whole time. Even when my girlfriend and I feel behind the group prepping to get into the water David stayed behind to give us personal help, I would have expected to be on our own. But David waited and made sure we were safe and properly instructed especially since it was our first time snorkeling (I was on the swin team so it was hard to get that don't breathe out through your nose concept down). When the boat docked back in Galveston I was contemplating stowing away for the next cruise, so the next one can't come soon enough. Thank you Carnival I will be a frequent customer!
