Review summary

The ship's decor was awesome. There were areas that could use some sprucing up, but the overall areas of the ship were acceptable. We found that some crew members were short and apparently didn't put the traveler first. However, the majority of the crew were friendly and helpful. We had several days of "opening seating" for meals. When we entered our dining room we requested a booth to sit in. Never did sit in a booth... they sat us in areas that had no one seated (eventually others were seated in the area). We thought open seating meant open seating, but apparently they didn't agree with us. At one point we even spoke with the Assistant Matre D who apparently spoke to our waiter and the service improved greatly. Overall, our cruise was great. The ports were good and we did have a really fun time on ship. We would, however, suggest that Carnival mark the ship to indicate "front" and "rear". The ship is very big and we got lost so many times because of this confusion and the elevators that it really became comical.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Dining was superb. If you didn't like the entree of a particular evening, you always had an alternative to choose from.

Entertainment

No problems with this on the cruise. Enjoyed all that we attended.

Service and Staff

Overall all, the crew was friendly. We did run into some rudeness and shortness. The crew really didn't go out of their way to help you with questions you may have had in some stores and also when asking for directions. Two times we were told to go the wrong way on the ship and had to turn around and start all over! Very frustrating.

Ship Quality

I touched on some of our concerns in the review above. Ship layout was very confusing to many cruisers and the cleanliness of room and hallway carpets needed improvement.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were very pleased with the size of our stateroom and balcony and also the closet space. We were very comfortable in our room. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was very nice and our balcony was the best!

Ports of call

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

5 out of 5
This was our favorite port. The people were very friendly and wanted to guide us in the right direction of what we wanted to visit. We took a bus tour and found the best thing was our trip way up into the hills. Very quaint, with vendors along the roadway selling their wares. We found better deals along our travel than in the "market". It was really a fun tour. I wouldn't want to say the market is a waste of time, but all the vendors have a lot of the same items and they scurry to surround you so you will buy from them. This was not too much fun because you really didn't have the opportunity to shop at your leisure.
Don't Miss: The land tour. It was very interesting.

Cozumel, Mexico

We were really surprised with the cleanliness of this port. We went jewelry shopping and stopped at Carlos & Charlies', which we thoroughly enjoyed. Food and drink were good and wait staff were extremely friendly and pleasant. Very nice port.
Don't Miss: Nothing to comment on.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
Was surprised how small this island is! We toured the island on a bus and learned a great deal about the history of the Grand Caymans. Stopped in Hell and was surprised how small this stop was.... one store only. Very different though and the history was interesting on how it got its name.

Pros: The balcony! It just added to the relaxation we experienced on ship.

Cons: A few things, e.g., some crew members' attitudes and rudeness; our room was not made up every day; carpets in our room and the hallway really needed cleaning.

Recommends Carnival Triumph? Yes!
