Finding out without notice I was charged $100 per person for a Covid test before getting aboard soured me from the start. Otherwise, I enjoyed the cruise, The staff was very helpful the ship itself is kind of rundown.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
They charged me $100 per person for a Covid test without telling me. Frankly I thought it would be free. And they told me I would’ve walked down the street to Walgreens and had the same test done for free.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was good, the dining areas in the ship are rundown and could use a refresh. The staff was excellent.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There was plenty to do on the ship from putt putt golf to waterslides to comedy presentations and they have the fastest water slides I have ever been on.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows were high quality and entertaining.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Excellent staff, helpful, thoughtful, pleasant to be around.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
The ship was clean and neat. It is however badly in need of a refresh with everything from cracked woodwork to worn carpets.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
The cabin size and lay out was fine. The cabin was poorly maintained with cracked woodwork, a refrigerator that did not work I ended up fixing myself, a non-functioning ceiling vent that again I had to fix myself and was generally in need of some tender loving care. I did like the cabin location and the way it was set up.
Ship tip
Don’t let them do anything for you until they tell you how much it costs. They will charge you without you even knowing the amount. The fact they charged me $100 per person for a Covid test without even telling me I had a time was appalling to me.
Fun place, would like to have spent an overnight there. We arrived at nine and had to be back on board by 4. Take the reef snorkel dive it is marvelous.
Before going on my cruise in May, I remember reading about the cost for testing at the port by carnival. So I got tested before going to the port. Even if it was free, I would want a negative test before showing up at the port.
If you showed up without test results after a year of testing requirements being all over every cruising site and story you are lucky you even had an option.
