Carnival Sunshine

7 Night Eastern Caribbean Carnival Sailabration (Charleston Roundtrip)

Sail date: March 07, 2022

Ship: Carnival Sunshine

Traveled as: Large Group

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Review summary

I will not sail the Sunshine again, nor will I sail from Charleston again! The meet up for the Sailabration was also underwhelming! It could have been done so much better and after the build up from Carnival was a disappointment! I love Carnival and I will continue to sail with them, this one was just not up to par and not up to Carnival's normal srandard.

So unorganized! Worst port I have been in.

Ship Quality

This was the worst Carnival ship I have sailed on! It is in need of refurb badly! The ship was dirty and the windows were so bad you could hardly see out them. I'm guessing they had not been cleaned in months! There were holes in the walls of our cabin and repairs needed everywhere. Sad!

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

Half moon cay is awesome! Too bad the debarkation was a hot mess! I had priority tendering and it took 2 hours to get off the ship because they let anyone get with us and by the time we got to the usland we had about 3 hrs before we had to start the process of getting back to the ship. Really poor planning on their part.

I just got off the sunshine and I agree about sailing out of Charleston, sailing out was ok but disembarking from the ship was totally ridiculous. I will not sail from that port again unless they come up with a better system for disembarking no other port that I have sailed out of was that unorganized and chaotic.

Oh wow! I am so nervous now. Just booked a 4 day on the Sunshine for May. This will be my 4th cruise with Carnival, and first time out of Charleston. All others were out of Port Canaveral. Since I'm only 3hrs away from this port and the low price, I chose this cruise as a "quick getaway".

Interesting. This is helpful. The price would have to be significantly cheaper to book an older boat. Research is worth it.

I agree though the sunshine and the sunrise were the worst ships I've been on! The new design makes them to choppy! Adding all the new cabins do to greed ruined this class of ships!

The Elation, Ecstasy and Paradise are the oldest! Sunshine,Sunrise and Radiance were all just re-named and refurbished they won't be going anywhere soon!

I've been on the Sunshine twice prior to pandemic. The first time it was right out of dry dock , we didn't leave Charleston until 8 pm. They said that they got a brand new crew, and they had to go through customs. It was great after we finally left Charleston. The second time I went alone , I had a great time and ship actually got underway by 4pm. Both times were fun

Thanks for the review. The Sunshine is one of the oldest (maybe the oldest now) ships in the fleet. It will probably be gone in the next few years as they bring on newer ships.
