Overall we enjoyed our 5 day cruise on the Sunshine. The food was probably the best I’ve had on any Carnival ship. I plan on cruising on the Sunshine again.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Charleston has a different setup since the last time I’ve been here. 20 dollars a day to park outside. Didn’t care for that. Previous years, we parked inside a warehouse. Liked that much better.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food in the buffet didn’t look appealing. Breakfast and the service in the MDR was excellent. Dinner as well. Sandwiches in the deli were good. Ate pizza once, didn’t care for it.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
I love trivia. This ship was lacking with that. I’ve been on other Carnival ships that had 3-4 games a day. Not on the Sunshine. No sports or music trivia at all. Difficult to play mini golf or shoot pool because of the windy conditions.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Loved the comedian Carl Strong, he as hilarious. Had great material. Joe Marlotti wasn’t quite as good. Saw only one of his shows.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room attendants were excellent I. P ( His initials, unsure how to spell his name ) brung in my iPad from the balcony to keep it out of the elements. Wait staff were attentive. Tables were cleaned promptly. Christian, Mr. Chicago was probably the best CD I’ve seen. He was electric. Houston of the entertainment staff was very funny. He even had the cruisers laughing during the muster drill. No problems here Houston.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
It’s an older ship, so there are some rust spots, which is understandably. Ship is pretty easy to get around. Cold in certain areas, like the liquid lounge. Wished the library was in a quieter area. The DJ would set up right outside at times.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Shower was larger than expected. Rest of the room was the basic balcony cabin. Wished the cabin had a nightstand.
Ship tip
If you attend a show in the limelight lounge, get there at least 30 minutes early. You may have to watch on a monitor if you get there late.
