Review summary

Family vacation with the grandkids the day after Thanksgiving.... great time to cruise and this was my first but not my last on Carnival. I really enjoyed this trip. The entertainment and staff on board the ship were so friendly and we were kept fed and entertained!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Not too bad, but getting in and around the port in Charleston can be a cluster.... lacking in real direction.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed the speciality restaurants...so many that we did not have time to taste them all. Great service and selection. I would say that the food in the main dining room was just a little off.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of great activities and fun for all ages. The word trivia time is taken to a new level aboard this ship. Not your ordinary fill out the paper and raise your hand. SO much fun and everyone was entertained and encouraged to participate.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The most awesome shows..... Carnival Sunshine knows how to "rock".....literally!

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
They had a good time, but it did not appear to be as highly supervised as advertised.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very friendly and fast.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
While it took a while to get used to the many different elevators and staircases.... it was really not so bad after the first evening. Just keep in mind that several of the middle floors are only accessible through moving into other areas of the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The balcony was not as large as a previous Aft View Cabin on RCCL.

Ship tip

The ship is superior.... the port.....now that takes patience.

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

2 out of 5
Poorly designed and not very efficient.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
In 30 years... it never changes.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Very slow..... confusion along the luggage pick up station. Just not efficient and lacked real direction.
