Overall this was a great vacation & we will cruise this ship again. All of the staff were great & we had a lot of fun!!!

Embarkation

The Port of Charleston is very small and inadequate. But they did their best. Parking is a nightmare and at the tune of $140 for 7 days it surely wasn’t worth it. After you finagle your way to the actual entrance and snake around to the payment tent you’ll be wondering what is actually going on. Then move up a bit and a porter takes your luggage from you. Then you park as far away from the ship as you can. Walk to a random building to check in, wait for your zone to be called & then board a bus to the ship. All of this was pretty fast but my what an ordeal. Add in the fact that some people carry on their luggage and you can imagine how fun that bus was.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The Sunshine has 2 main dining rooms. We’ve eaten in both as this was our third time on this ship. I cant say enough about how good the dining room foods are!!! We hardly ever visited the buffet but when we had, for a snack, it was good but definitely not comparable. Capitano Pizza was very good!!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The Sunshine has the best serenity decks!!! We always found a place to sit! And if you feel like snagging a spot & leaving your stuff all day, that’s not going to happen. They will move your belongings as it is clearly marked not to save your chairs. So unless your rude and like to hog your space & not actually lie in it, take note.

Entertainment

Mikey our cruise director is phenomenal!!!! He made everything more fun!!! You just want to be around him. He is sweet & funny & I hope he stays on The Sunshine!! He has the best outfits & the craziest socks!!! The shows were ok but the comedy was awesome!!! Mike E Whitfield is hilarious!!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Noervie was the bomb! He knew everybody’s names upon meeting each of us & greeted us by name every single time he saw us. He did a great job & complied with every request.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship was renovated in 2013 as it used to be the Destiny. The workers on this ship worked tirelessly cleaning & re cleaning & always cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
This was our first cruise (out of 7) that we had an interior room. It was ok. We were not prepared for how tight it was but overall it had enough space for 2 and adequate storage. And the bathroom was the same size as the other rooms.

Ship tip

Be prepared for the inadequacy of the port. Know you will have the time of your life onboard. Visit the Havana Bar frequently! Don’t eat lunch when everyone else does. Have a Guys Burger, a Burrito from the Cantina & order a Pizza!!

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina Did not visit port

We’ve been to Charleston several times. We arrived in time to get in the boat.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
It is a typical cruise line owned island. The food was ok. The lounge chairs were plentiful.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

Loved Bermuda and would go back!! It’s bigger than it looks and in order to get out of the dockyard you must use transportation. We ferried across to Hamilton & used the public. Used to go to St George. It was fun & we felt safe wandering in our own.

Disembarkation

Horrible!!!!! We were stuck in our car for 2 hours without moving. The people that were “trying” to move traffic did a horrible job and were rude. No one had a clue as to what was going on. I kid you not, 2 hours sitting in our car NOT moving.
