We enjoyed this cruise. We have cruised often and enjoy days at sea, sometimes choosing to stay on the ship during port calls. This cruise itinerary offered us those options. The food and the service was excellent. We would (and possibly will) book this trip again!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
There were long lines of cars entering the port for drop off, with only 3 vehicles allowed to unload at a time, which made embarkation a little slow and worrisome.
The Carnival Greeters and Staff were efficient and friendly. Embarkation moved very quickly once we were allowed to get out of our car.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The main dining room served a wonderful variety of delicious food. The waiters were efficient and very friendly. Our only small disappointment was that when we ordered wine, it was often served following the delivery of the first course (salad or appetizer).
Breakfast in the dining room was a special experience. Breakfast was tasty in all of the venues we tried.
The specialty Italian restaurant was delicious, but a lot of Italian food is served in the main dining room so we probably wouldn't repeat that choice.
The Steakhouse was excellent!
We enjoyed the pizza, hamburger and the taco/burrito bars for quick lunches. Each item was prepared according to choice and, if there were lines, they were short and moved quickly. The breakfast burritos were yummy.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the pools, the water works, the fitness center, and the evening shows.
The live music was good for listening and dancing.
A lot of the indoor activities revolved around different topics of trivia games.
We were disappointed that the pre arrival port talks only discussed shopping or excursion options and did not any geographical or historical information.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The ship's stage shows were excellent, but people that have cruised Carnival often mentioned that they have seen the same shows over the past years as cruisers. There was always seating available. There were not production shows every night.
The musicians were generally good. We were surprised that some actually ignored song requests.
Children's Programs
We were not traveling with children.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Overall the service exceeded our expectations.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship is older and is decently maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Overall, we enjoyed our cabin. The comfort and the size met our expectations. Our room steward was amazing and very helpful. Following the morning cleaning, we were always greeted with towel animals. Our cabin was at the end of a hallway that opened, through a door, to a sundeck overlooking the Lido area. We loved the convenience of being steps away from the deck lounge chairs and the beautiful waterfall. If we wanted privacy, we could sit on our balcony enjoying the ocean views and hear the muffled sounds and music from the Lido deck pool area. We enjoyed being in the Spa area because of the calm atmosphere and the lack of hall traffic. We did, however, experience noise from the Serenity Bar area, which was a deck above us. For the most part, it was only the sound of furniture being moved around, but one night, there was an official ship party that began at 11 p.m. and went "late," which really translated as early morning, which also meant very little sleep in our room. The DJ and the dancing were quite loud. Only our cabin seemed to be affected since the dance floor had been set up directly over us. We aren't sure if this particular activity occurs on every cruise, but it was surprising.
Ship tip
The ship is older, but the hospitality is excellent. Relax and enjoy!
The Port itself is clean, with nice restaurants and bars.
The Carnival Greeters and Staff were efficient and friendly.
The Port, The Space Coast, NASA and Orlando make Port Canaveral an excellent place to visit
We did not do any excursions because we enjoy the area and spend time there often.
We did a Best of Bonaire excursion. Our tour guide was excellent. Bonaire is an interesting little jewel. We enjoyed learning about the Salt Ponds and seeing the island. The diving and the snorkeling and water activities would definitely be an incentive to go back.
We did an open air bus tour around the island to see what all Grand Turk offered. There is not a lot to see or do, but the beach and the water activities were relaxing.
