This was an enjoyable vacation for me and my family. I would lean toward cruising on newer ships in the future where you have all of the bells and whistles.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Embarkation went very well. One of our party is handicapped and the embarkation team took special care of him and the rest of us to keep us together.
The muster drill was a nightmare with crowds of people packed shoulder to shoulder trying to get to each of the muster stations. It was awful. I’ve cruised with other cruise lines and I have never had such an unorganized experience.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was pretty good on most evenings. Lobster tails were delicious. Guys burger joint had great burgers and fries. We did the Chef’s table which included some pretty awesome food. The omelet stations had great breakfasts and the buffet had lots of good breakfast options. I enjoyed the food on our trip!
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We didn’t see many of the shows or participate in many of the activities onboard. The Serenity areas of the ship were where we spent most of our time and the seat cushions could use some updating. We did use the cloud 9 facilities which were calm and enjoyable.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
We saw one comedy show on board - it wasn’t great.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was always fabulous and couldn’t do enough for us. Friendly, gracious and the best part of the trip!
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship was older and shows it’s age. The layout of the ship is confusing and we spent a great deal of time trying to figure out how to get around. Only 2 elevators on the ship went to the 11th deck where our room was, and because one of our party used a wheel chair we had to use the elevator to get to our floor every time. We did anytime dining, and had to go to the 5th deck to get to register for our meal and then the 3rd deck for the actual dining room... makes no sense. They could do that better. Also - the crew uses the passenger elevators to move luggage, and for their equipment which on embarkation day caused even bigger delays for the elevator.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Bed was comfy, room was clean and bathroom had adequate space for our needs. The balcony was smaller than what we have had on other balcony’s on other cruise lines. We had plenty of storage space. The hairdryer provided was inadequate - the power supply is fed through the drawer and limits how far you can pull it out to use it. Suggest you bring your own hairdryer.
Ship tip
Bring your own hairdryer - go to Guy’s Burger Joint - spend time in the Serenity area.
Love, love, love Bermuda... the people, the beaches, everything about it! We did not do an excursion but traveled by mini-bus to the beaches and by ferry to Hamilton. You don’t need to book excursions here but can do you own thing to get to where you want to go. Mini-buses are the best at $7.00 per trip to the area beaches... they bring you right to the beach and are available to take you back to the dock. Highly recommend using them.
Disembarkation was handled better on this trip than I have experienced on other cruise lines. Although we had to be out of the room by 8:30 a.m., we had a comfortable place to wait to get off the ship and a full breakfast was available at the buffet which allowed for us to be well fed before we had to get off the ship. Once we headed off the boat it didn’t take long to get our luggage and get through customs.
The issue on this cruise was getting people to their muster station. The crowd was gridlocked trying to get to the areas we were supposed to meet at. I totally agree that it is important to know what to do in the event of an emergency. Crowd control was the issue. Safe cruising everyone!
Maybe this is a new thing with the muster drills. My 1st three cruises, the muster drills were taken very serious & you had to go & stand exactly where you would go in an emergency & you could not have a drink in your hand during the presentation. But last Dec, I was on a cruise & they had the muster drill in one of the lounges & 75% of the people had drinks in their hand & not really paying attention. Others had there muster drill in the theater where they have the shows. I made sure to study the map on the back of my door & knew exactly where I was suppose to catch a life boat if needed & it wasn't in the lounge. Be prepared!
Yes agree that muster drills are important — but of the 6 cruises I’ve been on it was the most unorganized I’ve seen. God forbid it would be like this in a real emergency!
As for the muster drill... ita supposed to give you an idea what to expect in the event of a real emergency.. where to go and what to do once there. Its an important part of the cruise experience... heaven forbid any emergenciea arise... BUT... crap happens, and ita better to have an idea of where to go and what to expect.
