Will not take another cruise with carnival sunshine. Horrible experience. From embarkation, staffing, shopping aboard the ship also terrible. Very crowded, cleaning-less, old ship. Do not recommend.

They give us time slots to embark but we waited in long lines. Very disorganized

Service and Staff
3 out of 5
In general staffing had no knowledge of anything and in some cases rude. Our waiters at dinner time were great!! Room was ok but we had to wait for over 1 hour to get our towels
Ship Quality

Very old ship needs a lot of updates. Common area bathrooms were very very dirty
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
We were 4 adults we needed 2 full size beds but we got bunk beds. Mattress was comfortable. Cabin needed painting looked dingy
We rented a car but we were not allowed to leave the ship at the time posted on the itinerary we waisted 2 hours on the ship staffing was not helpful at all
Like it a lot. We were able to carry our own luggage out of the ship. That made it easier for us to disembark the only good thing about this ship was leaving the ship.
We came home yesterday. The ship is well updated. I don't know what people expect with a ship that was built in the 90s. I occasionally even complained about the food, but then realized that you can't please everyone at a buffet. The dinners were good in the main dining room and I enjoyed the brunch on our last day at sea. Ji Jis is an Asian restaurant that serves authentically prepared Chinese food (and other Oriental dishes) if you want something a little different. The children's program is also well organized. Although we didn't stop at San Juan's port, we had a pleasant experience. The cruise staff works very hard and around the clock.
Yes we sailed what Emma last year and this year we sailed with Lee because Emma was on vacation. I was a little bummed at first but Lee turned out to be pretty great!
I agree with babsonboard. A cruise is what you make it. We are also sailing on November 4 on the Sunshine. 77 days and counting. I was on the Sunshine last year and had a great time. Emma, the cruise director is awesome!
I'm sorry for your bad experience on the sunshine as well. I've been two years in a row and I loved my experience. I love Emma the cruise director she's awesome!!! My room steward was amazing. /The only thing I could think of is in the Lido Buffet the breakfast options didn't change from day to day as opposed to last year. We did get the spa balcony so we had access to the spa and those amenities. We have to go on a different Carnival next year because they will not dock in Norfolk Virginia anymore :-(
I was on the sunshine in June and I agree very old ship but don't let that ship ruin you from going on another carnival ship. I have been on the Legend, the splendor and the pride all of which I loved. the splendor was my favorite with the pride next. I have my next cruise with carnival already booked in April of 2019 on the horizon. the sunshine should have just been taken out of the fleet when it was the destney.
too late. I am scheduled to sail aboard the sunshine on April 6th.wish me luck. I am sorry about your misfortune. Good luck on any cruise line you choose on your next vacation.
we took the carnival victoy from miami last week and the embarkation was not like before its so fast, they give you time to arrive then just go through the scanner, access cards are already waiting outside the cabin door.
