Itinerary was good but Sunshine not so much

This was our 6th cruise, all with Carnival.  Our first five cruises were outstanding, can't say enough good things about the Legend, Miracle, Sensation and Glory.  We don't have high expectations,  just look forward to a long week away with good service, good food, and visiting interesting places.  

The Sunshine fell short of our average expectations,  except in the interesting itinerary and the outstanding service from our room steward Andi.

We felt that in the redesign of the Sunshine the company went for quantity instead of quality.  All of the public places felt way to crowded to the point that it was sometimes difficult to just walk across them.  There seemed to be a problem with water in the hallways into the Lido buffet area,  for older people this can get scary; you have to walk so carefully so as not to slip and fall.  There wasn't one day that the water was not present even though the crew seemed to be there constantly trying to dry it up.  Whoever designed the buffet surely has never had any experience with traffic flow...two sides that converged on the third side made for a very irritating bottleneck.  At normal meal times,  lines were exceedingly long,  seating was difficult to find and overall the quality of the food was not really that good.  Should clarify that statement,  the main courses were not that good and often not very warm,  the desserts were awesome.  Guys Burgers were great as was the pizza.  Never tried the tacos, lines to long.

We have always read cruise reviews and felt that the negative ones were from people who just had to high an expectation,  but after this cruise we won't think that again.  

The positives of the cruise were our cabin,  it was great, Andi our room steward was so friendly and helpful we told him he was the hi-light of our cruise!  We both loved everywhere we stopped, very friendly people, clean shops and a joy to visit.

Debarkation was lengthy not as efficient as on our other cruises.  

We cant review the main dining room as we never went there,  did not see any shows,  and did not go to any bars so those items may have been great but since we didn't go to any of them can't comment.

Will we cruise Carnival again?  Definitely!  Will we cruise on the Sunshine again?  No.
