Review summary
Review Of The Carnival Sunrise (5/17/19) and Port Norfolk Va. Embarkation day: The kinks seemed to be worked out for our sailing. We showed up within our selected check-in time and we were onboard within 20 minutes. My mom had wheelchair assist embarkation and we all were on the ship within 5 minutes of each other (group of 30). The police that were out there directing the flow didn't have a clue on where my mom should go so I figured it out on my own. Debarkation Day: This day was hectic but it still went really quickly. We were within the 1st 2 floors to be released off of the ship but every other floor had made their way on to the elevators (holding them up) and in the hallways. The employees tried to send them back to their rooms but... My mom (handicapped in a ADA room) was told no assistance available within our slot so I did what I do best (made it happen). Customs was really relaxed, maybe too relaxed compared to my previous experiences. The ship: The ship is beautiful, they did a wonderful job with the upgrades. The lobby seemed a little compact but modern. The lido deck had a great flow and I always could locate loungers. I was disappointed that pictures are still being printed and placed on the wall instead of digital upload/viewing. There are some pics I never found. On decks 1 and 2 there was the occassional poop smell (no lie) in certain spots in the hallway. Handicap accessible: Its workable but there are a ton of humps that scooters, wheelchairs etc. had a hard time getting over. My mom doesn't sweat any of that stuff so she just asked for a little push and everyone seemed happy to do it whenever she got a little stuck. Getting a elevator was a challenge but it's a challenge anyway. Waterworks: was so much fun Serenity Deck: I loved it but honestly I need to be around excitement on vacation. It was so calm and relaxing. I would have loved it on a longer cruise. The liquid lounge: doubled for the comedy shows and late night clubbing. It was nice. Cruise Director: The Flying Scotsman I freakin adore him. He's a ball of energy. I didnt get to meet him and I wish I did. I never saw him coming or going, he just seemed to pop up from out of nowhere. He made this cruise so much fun. DJ: DJ Xtreme was really good. I like that even if there was a theme for the night and the crowd wasn't responding he switched it up. Food: The Main Dining Room: the food was ok but our waiter Savio (Sunshine Dining Room) was the best and we waited to sit at his table whenever we ate in the dining room. He joked and cut up with us. My mom is partially paralyzed and he cut her food off of the bone for her and fed her a couple of times too lol. If anyone has mobility issues request a table near the entrance because its tight in there. The buffet was small and seemed very limited to me. Guys Burgers: it's ok Pizza: good Seafood Shack: good Seaday Brunch: amazing Guys Pig And Anchor: the best food on the ship Late night eating options were limited after club hours so we resulted to Pizza alot because room service rang busy for at least an hour at least 3 times during our vacation. My husband called room service to get ice, they asked if a plastic bag of ice is fine. He said yes, they brought him a plastic bag and told him to fill it up on the lido. We looked at each other and laughed so hard. We dont sweat the small stuff...we are on vacation. Cabin: Porthole (2220): very spacious room with a view for the interior price with a coucj. There are no drawers so we had to get creative with delicates but no biggie. There are plenty of outlets and USB plugs imo (4 usb and 3 outlets). Cooler is small, we took the shelf out to chill our wine. This is my first time with a forward cabin on a lower deck and I'm glad this wasnt my first cruise and I am familiar with cruise sounds because we heard every wave crashing/ being cut through and ridden over. Sometimes it sounded like the front of the ship came smooth OFF lol. I didn't get sea sick but we rocked like a newborn baby. There was this black stuff in our toilet that looked like charcoal with every flush. Our cabin stewart: Annas was so sweet and funny. He always seemed to see the funny things that happened to me even off of the ship..like me running in the rain with a beach bag on my head π€ Interior (ADA Fully accessible cabin) 8407: This cabin was very nice and spacious and had a great flow. 2 twin beds that didnt convert. The bathroom was huge. PS: we will be uploading on cruise vlogs and cabin tours on our youtube channel: lifewithustv starting this week. I'd go on this ship again and again but to different ports. Norfolk please get some new destinations πEmbarkation

Ship tip
Itβs a midsize ship and it can feel crowded at times, buffets are a nightmare
