Review summary

We had a great time, so many activities all around the ship, games, and shows, the Cruise Director and his staff work tirelessly to make sure everyone has a great experience. The food is plentiful, the shows are great and sometime interactive, there is always something going on. If you are a coffee drinker, the ship has a Java Blue shop where you can get a latte or an "Irish" coffee. The only issues I had was, the Casino is in the middle of the ship on the 5th floor, where people are allowed to smoke, which makes the main open areas between the 3-5 floors smell smoky and further, you have to go through the Casino to get to the Limelight Lounge, the Alchemy Bar or the Red Frog Pub where they have a lot of the activities. If you navigate the ship you can figure out ways to avoid going through the Casino as much as possible (i'm asthmatic and the smoke triggers my asthma), however the Casino is the most direct way and sometime the only way to access the Limelight Lounge. Again overall we had an amazing cruise and are in the process of planning the next.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was very good, a lot of options, 24 hour pizza.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
loved going to the comedy shows, performances, playing all the different trivia games, the nightly gatherings of people, music, and fun. The Cruise Director, Chris and off of of his staff, Deigo, Pable, Oshin, etc. were awesome. The nightly movies on the Lido deck were so cool.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
overall it was a great experience, shows, live musicians, comedians, etc., it was a great time, can't wait for our next cruise

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the service staff were helpful, and polite. Our room Stewards, Paul and Zissa were on point with anything we asked of them.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
the service staff on the ship are constantly going around the ship making sure everything is in order and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
this is the first time I had an interior room so initially it felt a little small in comparison to the Balcony room I had last year. However, I got over that fairly quickly. Would have liked to have draws to put my clothes in, but overall we made it work for us. When there was something in our room we needed changed a quick phone call to service and there was someone in our stateroom to fix any issues.

Ship tip

Pack an extra bag or two for all of your souvenirs. Also, if you like to use the pools and don't like the crowd, in the evening around dinnertime, the pools are much emptier. If you want to catch some sun, get to the Lido deck as early as possible because the chairs get taken up quickly. Just enjoy!

Ports of call

New York, New York

3 out of 5
No excursions, we are New Yorkers

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
We went on a catamaran, snorkeling and hanging at the beach, they gave us water, snacks, and rum punch, whoohoo

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
We went on an eating, drinking, walking tour of Old San Juan, which we really enjoyed.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
The port was lovely with some many shops. We went on the VIP dolphin excursion at Ocean World, it was GREAT!

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
it took longer than I had experienced before on the Horizon an at customs, there was a long wait for porters to help with the luggage and it was hot. Overall not bad, but could have been better.
