Review summary

The ports of call were excellent, and the excursions offered were amazing. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were clean and excluding the bed, comfortable. Food was delicious, but not offered very late. The ship itself was outdated in design, but pleasant.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room and steakhouse were excellent. Chalante and Zoe in the Golden Pearl dining room were amazing! The sandwich shop was very good, but often only had one person working and 20+ people in line. The only issue we had was that the only place open after midnight was pizza unless we wanted to pay for room service.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There was a wide variety of activities, but they were geared more towards the older passengers (which is understandable since the majority of them were much older), but there didn't feel like there were much options for the younger group besides repeating comedy shows, so we did spend much of our time in our room when on ship.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Fine. We didn't go to many because there weren't many that interested us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was very polite and helpful. Chalante and Zoe in the Golden Pearl Restaurant were excellent.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The layout was fine, the common areas were clean and well-maintained. The design itself felt old and outdated. I would use the Spendor again if it was the one going to place I wanted, but I certainly wouldn't search for the Splendor when planning.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The room was comfortable, clean, and the balcony was perfect for the trip. The bed was horribly uncomfortable. We had a queen/king (or whatever it was) which was 2 twins together. While I understand the necessity to address the changes between passengers on different cruises there was no way to keep the mattresses together so anytime we rolled over, the mattresses slide off and we ended up with the bedframe in our back. Sleeping was significantly uncomfortable.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
These ports of call are incorrect. We traveled to Alaska not Mexico. The ports in Alaska were amazing! Definitely the best part about the trip. I did wish we had more time in Ketchican. We did an excursion, which was great, but even though it wasn't a super long one, we didn't really have time to explore the town more than a block or two from the ship.
