Carnival Splendor

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip)

Sail date: November 19, 2017

Ship: Carnival Splendor

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 6456

Traveled as: Large Group

Review summary

Carnival changed ports because of hurricane damage and did not offer their customers any options for future booking, cancellation or cruise credits. I will never choose Carnival again.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
No parking available in terminal D. Had to park in terminal C. Too much walking and lack of organization

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Food was terrible and drinks too expensive. All of the sides seemed to be the same every meal. First time I have seen charges for room service. Just stupid and greedy!

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Pools were filled to the rim with wild children with no adult supervision

Royal Flush Casino & Bar

3 out of 5

Casino was fun but it needs to be no smoking

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were good

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was very nice

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Outdated

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Small cabin and balcony in comparison to other ships. Beds were too firm (hard as the floor). TV needs to have more channels and sleep timer.

Ship tip

Use deck 5 to move from end to end

Did bar hopping excursion. It was fun

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
Did Traditions excursion. It was fun

Grand Turk Island

1 out of 5
Did no excursion because we weren't here long enough. Shopped at port.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

1 out of 5
Tendered to shore. Not enough umbrellas. Sand removal showers were broken. Food line was over 45 minutes long. A lot of rocks off shore which hurt our feet.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Ship did not park in same location that forced me to walk a very long way to the parking garage.

I'm guessing you didn't read your Cruise Contract that specifically states Itineraries are Subject to change which is why most people don't book cruises specifically for the ports. Quite frequently during the fall and winter months Grand Cayman and the Private Islands gets cancelled due to not being safe to dock or tender there.
