Review summary

Overall, this cruise was just okay. I was a little bit happy when it was over. The ports of call were something to look forward to. The food needs work. Service was just okay. Entertainment was just okay. Nothing blew me away. This was my second time on the Splendor and the first time (2010) was much more impressive.

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
I honestly feel like the quality of food has been declining. Nothing was necessarily gross, but there were many items that were questionable, bland, or just so-so. Since cruises revolve so much around food, I expect it to be better. I was on the Splendor back in 2010 and it was much better then. Also, it is way too easy to get dehydrated while cruising if you rely on the cruise beverages alone. They don't exactly make it convenient to go out and use your Bottomless Bubbles at any hour of the day. This is something that really needs to be more easily accessible. The pizza open 24 hours was good and so was the soft serve. One day my husband and I ordered the room service and no one ever showed up. We had to go without breakfast that day since we were in a rush to get to our excursion. That was disappointing.

Service and Staff

It's extremely difficult to communicate with some of the waiters when they don't speak english well. It was so hard trying to explain simple things to some of them. Overall, service was just okay. I wasn't blown away by anyone. Again, the Splendor was better in 2010 when it comes to service as well.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship maintained cleanliness. However, it smelled of poop randomly on several occasions throughout the ship and in our room.

Cabin / Stateroom

The sheets and blankets weren't always changed. There were stains on many of them and that always grosses me out. Sweat marks rimmed the comforter and they didn't smell super clean either. My biggest pet peeve though -- Hair. There was a lot of hair on our last night's bed and that's disgusting. The towels also don't smell very clean.

Correct on the sheets....although the cabin steward was good.....I had to remind him we needed clean sheets one day....not a biggie, but something I shouldn't have to do A ship full of American speaking cruisers....staff should be fluent in English....have had the same problem..
