Review summary

I'm sorry to say, that this cruise was a disaster. We found out a day before, that the cruise has a maintenance issue. They offered us a refund at no cost or the option to still take the cruise. We decided since we already took off, to still go.

Every day, the cruise captain had to change the itinerary due to the ship issue - which turned out to be one of the engines malfunctioning.

The agent I spoke to with you, at , had advised me to ask on board for a room upgrade as she was not able to offer it prior to the cruise. And then when we got onto the cruise, the guest service agents told us they don't offer upgrades on the cruise - that they aren't able to upgrade. Only the agents prior to boarding are able to offer that. I was actually pretty annoyed.

The boat was old and completely outdated looking. The food was mediocre. The service on the ship was fantastic and kudos to them for taking the best care they could with all the drama that was going on with everyone being pretty annoyed.

Never again, unfortunately.

This cabin had a loud "clunking" noise, to which sounded like metal hitting the hull of side of the ship throughout the first night. We requested a room move, to which they moved us to another room of same caliber on same floor. Rooms are old looking and outdated color tones, carpets and bedding.

Ship tip

Do not cruise on this ship. Book something else.

I love TA's. Repeat clients are their livelihood. They make every effort to make sure their clients are aware of all issues and/or opportunities. I am thankful that they make my travel plans easier.

no offense but you were notified of the issue and given option of refund but you chose to forgo the cruise... In all honesty you don't have a right to give negative comments. Issues happen, breakdowns happen, be happy it didn't break at sea... I understand it ruined your vacation but it could have easily been your vehicle that broke, with less than a day's notice at that... They did what they could to make it right, don't take it out on them because you made a bad decision to continue. IMO

ArdnasAral , sorry you had a bad experience with your past agent BUT your wrong. Just as someone decides to not cruise on a certain ship because of a bad past cruise, you should find another agent. I am an agent and can tell you I DO NOT get paid by YOU but by the cruise line. There are many additional perks I offer my clients that you won't get from directly booking with the cruise line to include promo upgrades (the cruise line won't advise you of price drops or better promos as they are introduced), extra amenities and additional onboard credit just to name a few. Agents are also more personal and are aware of all that is involved in your booking unlike when dealing direct with the cruise line where you have to explain to a new rep every time you call about your booking. As with any sales position, the happier your clients are, the more likely they will return and recommend you to others.

Looks like ArdnasAral took down their post accusing travel agents of stealing your money.

When did you go? Was this after they said it was fix on the 12th?

joann12, when you see the mistakes first time cruisers make, you would think that they could avoid all these mistakes by using a knowledgeable ta. I have been on almost 60 cruises and always use a ta. I've never been disappointed.

Thank you exnasm68 for saying what a great job your ta does for you. We try very hard to make sure our clients are well taken care of. And yes I am a travel agent

when was that

ArdnasAral, I don't know what agents you're using, but I have never paid a travel agent one penny. They are reimbursed by the cruise line, and my travel agent does a magnificent job, matching my wants to the perfect cruise.

Wow. what ports did you end up going to?

I went on the Splendor last January to Cozumel, mahogany bay, grand cayman, and Belize. The ship is a little older but it isn't outdated... it's themed to be like 50's style and we loved it. The food was fantastic and we did not have a single maintenance problem with the ship. This person likes to whine so don't let it sway your opinion.

You can't complain about a cruise that you had the option of not taking. They said there was an issue and they gave you the option to avoid it. Can't get a refund now for a cruise you had the option to not take and you chose to go on anyway.

retired0821    7 years ago

you still can call the company and request a refund because of all the issues, and misleading information

mepcnp    7 years ago

Should have took the refund. Don't judge all cruising by this. Things break unfortunately.

You knew the issues before boarding therefore what more did you expect? Book without agents mostly they are there to take your money anyway... talking with experienced! No more agents for our vacation planning !!!! Search well and you'll find great deals just takes some time from your busy daily life.
