Review summary
My wife and I took the six night Caribbean cruise and just got back. Grand cayman and Cozumel where great, we swam with dolphins and stingrays and it was awesome, although the pics where 140 usd for ten pics🤑. The shopping in Cozumel was awesome as well. That's the good.
Heres the bad, if you value the safety and well being of you and your family don't step foot on Jamaican soil. The nicer people where just pushy as hell and the not so nice will drive you into the mountains and threaten your life for a hundred dollars. Every story we heard on the boat after Jamaica was similar to this! I couldn't believe we were dropped off in a violent third world county with no warning from the crew or anyone else for that matter!
On the boat we where treated to long lines and pushy rude people, the buffet was mediocre and closed most of the time, the meals in the "included" restaurant some nights where good and some bad. As well as the fact that if you wanted lobster or steak it was 20 usd extra.
Dirty pools and hot tubes where the norm. At every turn you will be conned into something with extra cost. If it says free gift never fall for that, we got the "free" coupon books for the low price of fifty usd that we didn't find out about till later.
in conclusion this was our first and most definitely last experience with carnival and smart money will follow our lead!

I sailed to Jamaica twice. First time booked through cruise line and had no problems. Second time booked through an independent agent and it was a nightmare to say the least. Never again! Next time I'll book through the cruise line or stay on board. But, Jamaica isn't my favorite port of call either.

We have cruised and vacationed in many third world cities and countries. It is a great way to understand the world outside the US. Jamaica and many other islands (but certainly not all!) are third world countries so never take a "dock vendor" tour. Even the taxis are suspect, unfortunately, so check out the ports before you go. Book the ship tours in any port and you will be OK. The tips on no jewelry and don't flash cash or credit cards are solid in any port you visit. Use the cabin safe; wear a small crossbody purse or conceal a wallet in a front pocket; take your driver's license and a photocopy of the passport; and carry minimal cash and a couple of credit cards to go ashore. Relax and enjoy seeing the world.

You have to be careful in any port or city. You have to remember that in some cases a ship equals easy money/scams. We always take the ships excursions ..are they a bit pricey ...yes but there is a safety issue. Cairo was probably the most scary for us. DO NOT war hewelry leaving the ship and dom't flaunt dollars. Relax and you will enjoy ,,every port had its charm. Believe it or not one of the most dangerous ports is Nassau who would have thought....lol
