Review summary

After getting on board and discovering none of the upgrades that were discussed, it was very disappointing to be on deck 1 3 rooms from the back of the ship.  This put us over the propellars and the noise generated by them on a daily basis.  Direction getting on board was terrible--we asked atleast 3 times for help in getting on board and getting to our room.

Once this was accomplished, the remainder of the cruise was not too bad.  Weather, which can't be controlled was great till Honduras, which we could not land at and from there overcast and not as warm.

Food was good, a bit repeating, and of course, on the captain's night both lobster and prime being served.  Can't they space that out??  Not a real good idea to eat two meals when "good stuff" is on the menu together.  Ended up eating 2 meals twice.

Stops were good--wish we could have seen Honduras but such as it is.  Entertainment was a bit lacking, not the best dancers and singers and very hard to appreciate due to the loud volumes on the mics.  The comic/magician was by far on of the very best we have seen and could have been on every night IF he had enough routines.  Would love to see him again.

All in all except for no upgrades, especially as a gold VIFP couple, difficulty getting on board it wasn't bad for a Carnival cruise.  After 23 great days on the legend for Carnival going to Australia this truly was a let down -- vacation is vacation and that was good.  In closing we will not travel on the Splendor again if we cruise Carnival again.

As above--on deck 1 over the propellers is not a good location. Expected upgrades and got nothing. To me with the extra cost of oceanview this is very inappropriate location

Ship tip

way to many dead ends on board. Must go up or down decks to get to where you want, specifically Black Pearl restaurant.

I was on deck one on back of ship in 2014. It was the best sleep I'd had in a long time, all that white noise. I guess that adage "what's terrible for some is great for others" really applies.

You shouldn't complain about being on Deck 1. If room location is that important to you, then you should've selected your cabin and not relied on a free upgrade.

If it's not in writing. ..it was never discussed. I am guessing you got a guarantee room. You get what's left over...

I'm guessing here but I imagine most passengers on the ship are gold VIFP. No special treatment there.
