Review summary

The ship was very small, and my husband, being 6 foot 7, hit his head on ceilings and doorways. Many of the activities were difficult to find, it felt like being in a maze. The gym for example, while being on the front of the ship, is very difficult to get to. You have to go through the spa and down some winding hallways, where you find yourself in a small gym with limited equipment. The hottub in the gym, however, was very nice and kept at a good temperature. The dinner in the Empire dining room was great, but the buffet was not very good and was basically the same food every day. Night life was boring, and the bars had limited selections.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Dinner in the Empire dining room was great, the buffet, however, was not. It was the same food every day and not very good.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Not a lot to do.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Most of the staff were great, and made the trip very fun. Our waiter at dinner was polite, but not as energetic or fun as most of the others.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Small ship, narrow and winding hallways, some activities and rooms are difficult to get to. Cleanliness and decor were good, however.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The room was great, the only downside being that the air-conditioning didn't work. We made do by propping our balcony door open at night to cool off.

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

3 out of 5
Not a lot to see in Juneau, other than jewelry shops.

Skagway, Alaska

3 out of 5
The Skagway Brewhouse has some great beers and very good food. Also, great hiking.

Ketchikan, Alaska

3 out of 5
Lots of small shops that were fun to walk through. Also, the Fish Pirate Saloon had some great food and beer.

Pros: Dinner in the Empire dining room was great.

Cons: Not a lot to do.

Recommends Carnival Spirit? No.
