Since this was our first cruise we really don't have anything to compare to. However we had a good time and enjoyed our trip. The staff, especially our room steward and main dinner host, were very nice and had wonderful attitudes. Only once did we have an unpleasant response from a staff member, and that was really more like indifference. Overall I am very satisfied with my cruise experience.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
It was reasonably easy to get on the ship. No worse than boarding an airplane. Once we boarded they had food available while we waited for our rooms to be ready.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
There was always food available. The buffet was very good with a wide selection of meats and vegetables. However most of the meats were over cooked and dried out or tough. The dining room experience was excellent but again most of the meats were over cooked. It appeared that the chefs were incapable of distinguishing between medium and well done. The duck, lamb shank, and frogs legs had nearly all of the flavor cooked out of them. The sauces were excellent. The single best entre I had in the dining room was what they called tiger prawn jambalaya. Unfortunately there were no tiger prawns in it. They substituted regular white shrimp.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The hot-tub was by far my favorite. I never used the pool. I enjoyed the karaoke, though some of the staff hosting it were better at engaging the crowd than others.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
There was one band that I thought was excellent. The remainder was adequate.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service staff were almost always anxious to serve and a pleasure to interact with.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I was amazed to see staff almost constantly cleaning the ship. Since this was my first cruise I can't adequately rate the ship design. Although we really never had any trouble finding our way around.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was clean. the window, however needed to be cleaned on the outside. It was clear enough to get a decent view.
Ship tip
Don't plan on making all your ports of call. If you see a souvenir in a port of call, get it. You may not get another chance. We were going to wait till our last port of call to get some souvenirs but because of weather we were unable to make that port.
Nassau was a nice enough, though it was a little dirty, and a little scary if you get off the beaten path. The people are a little aggressive with their attempts to sell you trinkets on the streets.
Realizing that we are at the mercy of customs the rating here reflects that fact as well. The staff was polite and generally accommodating, but it seemed to take a lot longer than it should have in my opinion.
In a way, even though your first cruise, you can still compare based on your outside world experiences. I would have to say most of us are treated better by the crew. Crews are wonderful, hard working people. Glad you enjoyed those you interacted with on the ship.
