Review summary

Again give “Big Chicken” a shot. If you go on one of these shorter cruises expect it to be more of a party atmosphere. Not quite as laid back as longer cruises. It is up to you to make your cruise fun, break out from yourself and try something new. Let loose and have a great time.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Long Beach is always well organized and smoothly run. We had a 10:00 check-in. No lines (we were in the priority lines). We sat in the captain’s lounge until around 11:00 and walked onboard the ship by 11:05.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We especially love enjoyed “Big Chicken” this is only offered on 4 different Carnival ships, (Radiance, Mardi Gras, Celebration, and Jubilee). The Chicken Sandwiches were on point as were the fries which were different than any others on the ship. We had a private both at early dining. Loved the private atmosphere. Our wait staff were great and very attentive. We were in and out in under an hour, one night it was only a half hour. I have never had this quick of dining experience on any other ship at any other time. The buffet was typical. Mostly great, with very few misses. The only complaint would be the chocolate melting cake in the MDR. It seemed to be too runny. It wasn’t what we were used to from our many other experiences

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We used this trip as a family getaway. We had a great time at the slides. The sail away party was fun.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
As always the youth staff did a great job of entertaining our child when he went. He made friends as he always does. The staff was great.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff we interacted with were great. Our Steward went up and beyond dealing with problems caused by us. I never met a staff member that wasn’t great.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship layout is simple and easy to navigate. All public areas were spotless.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We don’t typically stay in inside rooms but did this time. The room was in great condition the updates really make it look better. I really liked the addition of a motion sensing night light which illuminates the small hallway leading to the bathroom.

Ship tip

Definitely try “Big Chicken” it is on par with Blue Iguana and Guy’s burgers. I would even say that I enjoyed it more than Guy’s

Ports of call

Ensenada, Mexico

4 out of 5
Not our favorite port however we always felt safe.

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
Long Beach is a great city with many things to do.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This was by far the best disembarkation we have ever experienced. I believe the changes made with the “New” process made all the difference. There were only very minimal short lines. Once back inside to e terminal the security lines moved quickly.
