Cabin type: Oceanview

Cabin number: 2258

Review summary

I think this cruise is popular because it is only 4 days and relatively inexpensive. If all you are interested in is drinking and partying, then this might be for you. But for older folks or traveling with family, there are much better options to choose from.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The service in the dining rooms were great but the food was just ok. We have had much better on other ships. The outside restaurants had decent food but they were always very crowded. The buffet area was set up very confusing and was also crowded.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Hot tubs were rather small and always crowded. Swimming pool water was cold so we didn’t swim. Grand kids did like the mini golf and the water slide.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The music and shows are definitely for a young crowd. There was no venue to listen and dance to music other than Rock. The two shows in the theater were entertaining but again, geared to a younger audience. One of the comedy shows was pretty funny. The comedian said things in his act that a lot of the people were probably thinking. He called the cruise “The section 8 ghetto cruise”. Everyone laughed pretty hard at that one. Just not enough variety of entertainment on this ship. I wouldn’t recommend it to an older crowd.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Our grand kids did enjoy the kids club on a couple of occasions.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As always, on every ship I’ve ever been on, the staff was very good and hard working. I always admire and appreciate them.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was clean but seemed very tight in many places. I was not a fan of how it was laid out. A lot of up and down to get where you want to go. And the elevators were always crowded.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was fine. Very spacious with a nice big window. Location was too far forward tho. Should have picked a cabin mid ship to avoid long trips to the dining room which was in the rear of the ship. People coming back to their cabins late were very loud in the hallways which was annoying.

Ship tip

Think twice about this ship. I’ve been on many other cruises, including other Carnival cruises and this cruise on the Radiance was somewhat disappointing.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

3 out of 5
Just got on the ship in Long Beach. Didn’t visit any thing else.

Catalina Island, California

4 out of 5
Not much to see other than shops and restaurants.

Ensenada, Mexico

2 out of 5
Don’t waste your time getting off the ship here. Just a bunch of shops selling the same things. Maybe one of the booked excursions would have been ok.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth.

Sorry you didn’t have the best cruise experience.

Appreciate your feedback. You are probably correct that a short cruise is more of a party cruise, especially just as colleges are out for the Summer. Sorry you were disappointed.
