Short trip to check out the ship and amenities from the newer ship.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Long Beach is always one of the best embarkation ports unless something really goes wrong. Showed up 20 mins early and was past security in less than 10 mins.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
You can tell Carnival is feeling the recession and still trying to recover from the shutdown. Chose this short cruise to experience the ship. Unfortunately the pig and anchor was only open limited hours so didn't get to experience all the food I wanted to. Of the food we did try, some was undercooked and portions have gotten even smaller since April. However, that which was edible tasted good.

Great mix of entertainment throughout the ship.
Service and Staff

Wait staff has improved since restart. Would say they are back to as expected service across the board.
Ship Quality

This one is tough. Love the new look, modern sleek and well maintained at least on the inside. With going thru refurbishment last Dec would have thought less rust on exterior. It has been too long since I was on a sunshine class to really compare old to new. IMO they may have put too much into this ship and left more open space. However, great medium size ship (by todays standards) to experience many of the amenities of the newer larger ships. Just not the whole package. As far as the room. Great location. Cabin 7416 has an extra wide balcony like the suites but at regular balcony cost. It is an odd layout but actually quite comfortable. Reviews stated issues with noise being next to crew access but we had no issues. All noise was from other guests and suspect would have heard the same in all other rooms onboard. We saw no issues with noise. Location was fantastic for most food options and quick access to tides and Alchemy bars for quick drinks.
Cabin / Stateroom

Great deal on a larger balcony than most.
Ship tip
Get a passport to streamline embarkationand disembarkation @ Long Beach
With a short cruise, most did self disembarkation. So maybe a little longer than expected before authorized to get off. However, the process went quickly. Long Beach now uses facial recognition for passport holders. The line for those traveling on birth certificates was 3 times as long.
