Review summary

Overall we had a good time, but would not seek out this cruise as a repeat. Staff and revamped ship met our expectations but there are some major issues the management should be addressing.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Long, hot lines and priority status was not honored.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was good everywhere but steakhouse manager & meal (chicken) were disappointing.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools and casino were great. Way too much trivia and not enough alternative choices during the daytime.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Music, comedy, casino & love and marriage show were great. Stage performances were average.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Service overall was wonderful, especially the bar staff, Casino dealers, cruise director and his staff, & our last evening’s dining team in the Sunrise. Had negative experience with 2 separate members of the shore excursion staff. Very pushy, argumentative and downright rude.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Refurbished ship is beautiful. We cruised on this ship for years out of FL when it was the Victory & it’s been much improved.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean, spacious and loved the separate vanity area.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
Garage parking, easily accessible to the ship.

Catalina Island, California

5 out of 5
Although our excursion was cancelled the night before due to low turn out, we made the best of our day on our own, rented golf carts & enjoyed a stop off at the Sandbar for a delicious snack! Luckily we had done some research and knew what to do as a plan B.

Ensenada, Mexico Did not visit port

Cancelled our excursion and chose to stay onboard due to recent crime in the area.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth and handled flawlessly by the staff. We had priority disembarkation and it felt as such.

I believe Carnival only gives priority boarding if you book a Suite
