Review summary

Great short cruise with fantastic weather. This was our first visit to Catalina and Ensenada.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Carnival sent us an email, delaying check in by 90 minutes. We showed up at our regular time, prepared to walk around the port. They let us into the terminal “early” during our original check in window. Security screening and document checks were quick, then we got to sit inside for about an hour and a half. The terminal has power ports on posts throughout the terminal for charging devices.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the MDR each night and the buffet each morning. Shaq’s Big Chicken was good. Pasta lunch at Cucina del Capitano was quick, but nothing outstanding. Guy’s Burger is always great, but our expectations were too high for lunch at Guy’s Pig & Anchor. It was good. Late night pizza lines were often long.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Tried the pools and hot tubs. The pool on the back deck was best, and the Serenity hot tub was great. Enjoyed both slides twice. Earned a medal and some “ships on a stick” at trivia. That’s fun.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the production shows and both comedians. The Limelight Lounge was particularly hard to get to on our cruise both due to its location and because they had the aft entrance blocked off most of the time.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin and all the common areas were spotless. The wait staff was quick and attentive.
