Review summary

As a first time cruiser, I would recommend this trip; it sold both the wife and I on doing another cruise someday.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easy and painless even with the added wait experienced for taking the COVID rapid test prior to boarding.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Ok, I have to admit the dining experience was a bit disappointing, but only because the restaurant I was looking forward to dining (Guy Fieri's Pig & Anchor) was closed most of the cruise. Other than the closed restaurant, no other complaints.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The activities and events on the ship were awesome. There was always something to do, especially for music lovers.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
All of the activities and events on the ship were awesome. There was always something to do, especially for music lovers. Both comedians booked on this particular cruise were funny. The shows were spectacular.

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Some of the hardest working staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Absolutely no complaints with any of the staff.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I'm only going to rate this category four stars due to the layout of the ship; it was a bit confusing. To transition between areas on the same deck, you have to pass through restaurants. In my case, it made me question whether I was going the correct way to get from point A to point B. You also have to go up or down a few decks to get from one end of the ship to the other. The ship was very clean; staff were constantly wiping things down (COVID precautions, no doubt).

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
More room than I expected, especially in the bathroom. No complaints at all.

Ship tip

Don't get to excited about eating at the BBQ restaurant; Pig and Anchor. It was only open for three hours on the last day of the cruise.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
The entire embarkation and disembarkation process went well. The ship was only at half capacity, so it could be worse when full.

Catalina Island, California

5 out of 5
First time parasailing! Catalina Island is a good intermediate stop on the way to Mexico. Not a lot of things to do, but it's worth a day off the ship.

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
I attempted to do horseback riding, but I'm over the weight limit of 240 pounds. I'm told the weight limit has to do with the insurance costs; I just think they were being nice when I said I was too fat! Be advised they WILL weigh you if your weight is questionable. Wife and I did the "Top 10 of Ensenada" instead. Not sure why it's called "top 10) since it only included three stops, but it was a good alternative to the horseback riding.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy and fairly quick. I would highly recommend using the express debarkation and keep your luggage with you. It'll get you off the ship quicker.
