Carnival Radiance

4 Night Catalina & Baja Mexico (Los Angeles Roundtrip)

Sail date: February 21, 2022

Ship: Carnival Radiance

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Review summary

I had a blast, despite freezing cold weather and change in itinerary. Beautiful ocean, sunrises and sunsets. I can’t argue with that.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Went very smoothly. Took the Carnival airport transfer and got straight on the ship with no difficulties.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
As a vegetarian, not a ton of selection, but that’s sort of to be expected. There was a vegetarian option at each meal, and that’s what matters. Strict vegans may want to reach out to them to inquire about special accommodations. I didn’t eat at specialty restaurants, aside from the included Italian lunch one day, which was good. Best item I had was a vegetable pie. Yum! Overall food was pretty good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Loved the ropes course, which I did a few times. What a thrill! Enjoyed the trivia, Franco was a great host.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Really enjoyed sitting and listening to Ben play guitar and sing. He did say it was the final voyage of his contract, so unfortunately future passengers won’t be able to enjoy him but I wanted to mention him in particular. The violin trio was fantastic, as well. Ryan Rose, the Cruise Director, is perfect at what he does! Excellent job! All of the entertainment I attended was top notch.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Mark, my cabin steward, was excellent. All the staff I interacted with were fantastic.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Extremely clean, and constantly being cleaned. Ship’s layout took some getting used to, but I always get turned around on ships and is probably more of a personal problem…

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Absolutely perfect. My first balcony and I loved everything about it.

Ship tip

Be flexible and enjoy the ride.

Ports of call

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
I didn’t visit this port, having been before. Enjoyed the view of it from the ship, however.

Catalina Island, California

5 out of 5
Unfortunately this port of call was canceled due to strong winds. It’s a delightful place I was looking forward to revisiting, especially on my birthday, as it were. Next time!

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Flawless. Was off the ship in minutes.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise. I'll admit, once you've had a balcony it's hard to go back to interiors. I haven't made it back yet!
