Review summary

All in all, we had a very nice cruise, met different people when we said we would like to share a table for our dinner meal. Very enjoyable.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Had our picture ID (driver's license) and boarding pass in our hands. Was asked, where is your birth certificate. Didn't bring one, because we did have our passports with us. However, never stated to us what picture ID was necessary to board the ship. We do not like digging through our luggage or personal items in front of people to take care of what was needed. Clear explanation should be given on the boarding pass what is needed.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food and drink okay at buffets. Some breakfast items (pastries, etc.) have no real taste. Seemed tables were not wiped off in a timely manner in some of the buffet areas. We, as well as others got paper towels or rags to wipe off the tables we chose. Dining rooms were a good experience. Some beef was very sinewy and hard to eat. The servers in where you sit make a great difference. Hats off to Amir, Moamela, and I Wayan for a job well done. Kemesha and Silvia were great hostesses. Always all with ready smiles and willing to help.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Would have liked more variety of games offered. Too much trivia. Would have liked a gathering time on printed daily activity folder to meet with other card players at the Red Pub.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Liked the Taj Mahal shows at night. Went to the Comedy Club three of the nights, the early "family" friendly show. There was a young girl in the front row that took over the acts and goaded the comedian with rude comments, etc. It ruined the shows for us. The parents who were there did nothing to quell their youngster. So sad, not even the woman who was the comedy club "head" intervened. Not a good experience for us or others.

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very attentive, helpful service and staff. Made the trip very enjoyable.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The common areas were clean and well-maintained. The ship was not too large to walk where we needed to go.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our stateroom was probably the smallest onboard, but comfortable. Does not have a chair that has a back for sitting, just a small padded stool. Our cabin was clean when we arrived, our cabin was cleaned everyday and we felt that Gagas, our stateroom attendant was very detailed and did an excellent job. Always a ready smile, willing to accommodate and very personable.

Ship tip

Purchase the bottled water onboard. Your digestive system will "thank you". Also, there is not a "high fiber" cereal offered any longer in the "buffet areas" for breakfast. You may want to bring your own if that is something you are used to having for breakfast.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

3 out of 5
Need a separate drop off/pick up area for cruisers. Very chaotic.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

3 out of 5
About a half mile walk to the Terminal building over some smooth, some very rough concrete. If you booked an excursion other than a "Carnival" excursion, it was a very long walk to get to the meeting place.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Easy process to get off the ship. Chaos waiting for our person to pick us up as people were arriving too early for the cruise that would leave in the afternoon. Would be nice to have arrivals and departures in 2 different areas to alleviate so many vehicles.
