Review summary

Overall we had a great time. We love Carnival and the itineraries they put together. The entertainment keeps you so youre never bored. The casino has plenty of machines to play. Our only issue was the food could have been better. It is something we look forward to the most and this was a big let down,

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarking was fairly smooth, except one member of our group was incorrectly processed and had difficulty getting on even though we had already been through security and processed at the registration/passport desk.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The main dining room food was awful. The steaks (except the filet mignon) seemed boiled instead of broiled and were nearly inedible. The service was slow, where at one point we waited nearly 20 minutes to even have our orders taken. They did not offer bread baskets, but gave each person one small piece of bread and never returned with more. The steakhouse was over rated. I had more tough parts in my steak than edible meat. The sushi restaurant was good according to my spouse who ate there with our son. The buffet was the most edible but it was consistently difficult to find clean tables, or any tables at all as there was not nearly enough seating. We actually saw people sitting on the floor once.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We utilized the serenity hot tub which was luke warm at best. The mini golf was fun but could use balls that are a tad heavier as several of the holes are near large vents with air blowing the balls around the green.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The playlist cast was fantastic! The punchliner comedy club was also quite a bit of fun. Kim Harrison was hysterical! There was also a singer in many of the bars Kiara (dont recall her last name) that was amazing.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The room steward was great. We enjoyed having no responsibilities. Not his fault but we would have appreciated the twice a day turndown as we had 4 people in our room and would have liked having the couch not be a bed the whole time. Casino could have used a few more waiters as it took far too long to get our drinks.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was always very clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our balcony room was decently sized and always very clean. The shower was surprisingly larger than previous cruises so that was nice. The room could use an update as it was very dated.

Ship tip

The dinner buffet generally has the same entrees as the dining room with less wait.

Ports of call

Dover (London), England

5 out of 5
Not a port, just embarked and debarked.

Dun Laoghaire (Dublin), Ireland

5 out of 5
Port is 30 min from Dublin city but was very easy to navigate to. Glad it was changed from another port to this. Keep this one on the itinerary.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Another great port. Lots to do.

Reykjavik, Iceland

AMAZING PORT! Sooo much to do! Just wished we had multiple days there,

Grundarfjordur, Iceland

4 out of 5
Cute little port. Nothing in the town to do except walk an hour to a waterfall but its so nice and serene that we didnt mind the walk.

Akureyri, Iceland

4 out of 5
Larger of the 3 small Iceland ports. Not a huge amount to do except walk around the quaint town.

Seydisfjordur, Iceland

5 out of 5
Fun little port town. Even though it was a holiday they still had tons of little shops in peoples homes to shop in. The rainbow road to the church was also cute. The waterfall is a much tougher hike than previous ports but still fun to hike.

Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, Scotland

4 out of 5
Again another little port town. They bus you to the city center for free which was nice being that they do not allow you to walk out of the port fenced areas. Great place for some small shopping and fish n chips.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easiest debark ever.
