Review summary

The cruise itself was fine. The absence of certain services and dimly lit areas was lower than expected. Perhaps if the last port was longer. I do have a cruise coming up in January 2019. I don’t know if I would’ve booked it if I had taken this cruise before I paid for it.

Onboard Activities

I didn’t go much when my old man issues were acting up.

Service and Staff

I saw my room steward rarely. I felt I should not have had to call room service for everything. This was not my experience on my other 2 earlier cruises. My ice was refilled daily on the Grandeur of the Seas and my room steward was available daily and sometimes twice daily. There just seemed to be services that were missing.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was clean and well maintained. My only issue was that it was dimly lit in some areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Most of the things I were interested in were near the rear of the ship where my stateroom was located.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island) Did not visit port

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island Did not visit port

The ship was in this port for such a small amount of time I decided not to consider getting off.

My January Carnival Journey was really good on this ship. The lights were turned up. Everything was so much better on my second cruise. I’ve had 2 more trips on the Pride and I have a hopeful cruise in January 2021. It’s still a go so far. On top of that the ship is completely sold out.

Pride is my favorite ship, I understand it's about to be taken out of service to get some upgrades.

You have to remember, these room stewards are on 24/7 the entire time, napping when they can. It was most likely that your schedules didn't mesh. They have to sleep at some point. The majority of cruisers would be looking for services from them during the fay but if there were some who would call in the middle of the night keeping the steward up all night, he, or she, would have to catch up with some well needed sleep. Unfortunately they can't be everywhere at the same time. The experience I had with Royal, on the Quantum, was terrible. That room steward wouldn't do anything unless called.

I definitely agree on the dimly lit areas. On the way to supper a few nights, I tripped over some of the unmarked ramps....and I was in a long formal gown and in heels! And I'm....well..let's just say my middle name isn't Grace! 😁

My room steward on my recent cruise I on the Pride was awesome. He where around almost every time we went back to our room for something. He asked us the very first day if we wanted our room done once or twice a day and also asked if we wanted ice. Our room was freshly done and ice in the bucket all week.
