Review summary

This was a ast minute cruise for us, so we had limited options to book. We ended up paying full fare for the kids, even for the infant. Pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. But next time we will wait for the kids cruise free special before booking. Overall though they exceeded our expectations. And we cannot say enough good things about the staff. For a crew that spends seven days a week working for nine months straight, they were always cheerful. And genuinely happy to interact with us. there was no spot to comment on booking agent here... but we would be remiss if we did not mention how great Rhonda was in finding us a cruise despite the short timeline. Without her this would not have happened. So to , give that girl a raise! :)

Normandie Restaurant

Both the hostesses, wait staff and kitchen staff were excellent. We had a late dining slot (only thing available at booking), which did not work with two small children. They managed to give us anytime seating. And the chef made a special puree for our infant each and every night. What a wonderful staff!

Kids had a great time. My son had won a Build a Bear that week. But with naptime etc we missed the session. The staff at Kids Camp did not disappoint. They had a ready made bear for him instead which thankfully got the parents off the hook for missing the activity! :)

Cabin was clean and reasonably comfortable. One light wasn't working, but we didn't really need it. The only downside was that the balcony was a little dingy. Sea salt had definitely taken its toll on the peeling paint etc. Two glasses of wine later, you didn't notice that however. :)

Ship tip

We had 8 foot swells for the cruise out. Smart ones had packed meds accordingly. Also we noticed the front of the boat was really rocking. So if you don't have good sea legs, book towards the stern.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

We had to hit a walmart for last minute supplies before embarking. But Siri led us astray... but a kind security guard (Wolf Security) took the time to drive and show us to a nearby shopping mall where we could also get food for the kids.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

Clean and safe place for walking. But beware, everything (except for some touristy shops) close at 4:30.... And the ferry to Hamiltons last run is also at 4:30. Buses are slow and far in between. So if you miss the ferry its a 100$ cab ride back. Also, public beach services, like chairs and umbrellas etc, close by five. So plan accordingly if you are looking for that sunset walk, make sure you have transportation pre arranged.

The only disappointing thing was everyone had to leave their cabins by 9:30am. But we were still stuck onboard until 2pm. Try doing diaper changes in the dining room... A few late check outs should be feasible. Hopefully in future Carnival will consider these issues....
