Review summary

Wonderful cruise on the Paradise. We have been on the Elation which is its sister ship. The Elation has been through a remodel, however, the Paradise has not gone through the remodel. There is no Alchemy Bar, no Red Frog Pub, and Havana Bar. Still a wonderful time with timeless history on board. The atrium has a wonderful sky light at the top that was great.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was the best ever. We simply walked through all the stations required (Security, Carnival Check in, Facial Recognition, etc.) and went right to the ship. There was no waiting.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The Carnival Paradise food was extremely good. Main Dining Room, Buffet, Deli, and other venues were very good. After being home from the cruise, I miss the morning oatmeal, omelets, prunes, fresh fruit, and other assorted items.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Activities seemed to be sparse. The Leonardo Lounge was always empty and seemed like there should have been something going on there to keep people engaged. The Promenade Bands were great!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Performers as a whole did a wonderful job of entertaining. Pious, the steel drum player, was awesome.

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was amazing. Always willing to assist and get extra drinks, food, or other items. Great servers in the MDR.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Design was much different than other ships. I was just on the Freedom 10 days before and the Celebration back in June. These older ships have a different approach to décor but it grows on you. The staff was always cleaning and wiping down ledges, windows, stairwells, and other points of contact.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My wife an I loved our interior cabin. The fridge did not work, but the room steward Kishna did a great job of keeping an ice bucket filled everyday and multiple times a day for my wife's dietary needs.

Ship tip

Be prepared for a wonderful time and pack your patience with regards to other guests.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

5 out of 5
Some construction going on around the port, but we sailed on Labor Day so no activity.

Key West, Florida

Very Hot, but a wonderful port to visit. Caroline's restaurant is a great place to visit for lunch. Don't forget to hit the 190 Proof slushy of different flavors. They are amazing.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

We visited the Children's School through a Carnival Excursion that provided us an opportunity to give back to a pre-school with supplies and or money. It was a wonderful experience.

George Town, Grand Cayman

7 Mile beach was absolutely the best beach in the Caribbean. Very soft sand, no rocks, clear water, and great lunch. Another excursion booked through Carnival and the food for lunch and drinks were simply amazing. Ask for Agnes, she is a great server that will take of your every need.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Bring your patience. Long lines and about a 40 minute wait to get through the terminal due to the escalators. Disembarkation on the ship side was the best ever experienced. Most ships call Muster Stations, however, on this cruise they call your floor. This made so much sense and was a breeze getting off the boat.
