I enjoyed the cruise overall and would consider going on another Carnival Cruise from Tampa with a different itinerary. The Carnival Paradise will be dry docked as of 2018. Looking forward to seeing what ship will sail out of Tampa.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was easy and quick. It took a total of approximately 20 minutes to get on board the ship, although I requested to be in the first embarkation group at 11am. Our line did seem to move quicker than the "Faster to the Fun" line.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The dining room service was really good. The food was delicious and varied. I also enjoyed the Sea Day Brunch. All the bars served yummy drinks. The Paris Restaurant on the Lido Deck along with the grills has good food as well. The lines were long at times but had many great choices. The pizza was also good too.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I only took a quick dip in the pool but for a small ship they didn't seem overcrowded.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The shows were really good. The comedians were funny. The DJ's played great music. My only comment is that they did a lot of 80's & 90's themed events. My teens felt there wasn't enough music for their age group and I would have to agree. They did enjoy the music only because they had exposure to it before during their upbringing.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our waiters were the most attentive. Wilfredo, Jeffrey, Melvin & Shana in the Destiny Room were GREAT! They made our trip memorable. Babb was our steward and he was great as well. Jaime and the entire Fun Squad were great to be around and they made the trip enjoyable.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship is old however still maintained in decent shape. I didn't enjoy that smoking was allowed on the cruise. I didn't enjoy the casino because of it.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was a decent size for three people. It is an older ship so the shower looked old and so did the furniture, but it was clean. Plenty of storage space. We had an oceanview room but I would suggest they clean the windows so we could enjoy the view.
Ship tip
It is a good ship for a short period of time. If you don't like smoking stay out of the Promenade deck and the casino. Dining choices are limited.
The port was nice. We did a Mayan Ruins tour which was nice. The shops at the port are really nice too. It would be nice to see more authentic Mexican near the port.
The disembarkation was good. We chose to carry our luggage in order to get off the ship quicker. The waiting around was a bit hectic because people were crowding the common areas.
