Review summary

The ship was nice - clean rooms, good food, super friendly staff and personnel. The destinations (Cozumel and Costa Maya) had nothing very enticing about them. ...there was nothing cultural or visually stimulating about either place. Neither is a place to go to if you are looking for learning about local traditions or getting a dose of a new culture. Fortunately, we signed up for a resort day and an adventure park - I had felt guilty about booking such an "American" excursion but knew I made the right decision the moment I stepped off the boat. Also, surprisingly, was the fact that even the taxi drivers weren't welcoming. In other travels, I've always found taxi drivers to be great resources and ambassadors of their locations, quick to recommend places to go and sites to see. Our rides were silently awkward drives to our destinations.

There's only shampoo and body wash provided in the shower. You'll need to bring your own conditioner and a hair dryer. There are 2 nice robes, though, so free up some space in your suitcase by not having to pack your own.

Ship tip

The Muster Station drill is NOT OPTIONAL. Just get to your assigned station on time so you can get it over with and not keep the other passengers waiting for you!

Actually Cozumel and Costa Maya have ruins, museums, etc and have lots of history and culture to see. If you show interest in the culture the taxi drivers are often very welcoming.
