The ship is nice, but that is shrouded by the overwhelming amount of ghetto people on this cruise line. I’m assuming this is because Carnival has relatively cheap rates which attracts a certain element of people. These types of people have usually no respect for anybody around them, some of them were smoking weed, cussing out loud in front of old people and children, cutting in line at the buffet etc. Even a couple fights almost broke out. Some of these people would even bring their little portable speakers and play rap music by the pool and it seemed that SECURITY was too afraid to tell them anything. It’s ridiculous. If price is your concern, I would just work a few extra weeks at your job and save up the money and go on Royal Caribbean, Princess or Celebrity. Because I am telling you right now, these people (and you know who I’m talking about) will absolutely ruin your vacation. They have this attitude that everybody owes them something and that we should all accommodate their disrespect, loudness and misbehavior.. We are Hispanics from Los Angeles, so we have a little bit of hood raised ghetto in us too, but we don’t act that way in certain environments and we know how to behave ourselves, and we teach our children to as well. But I told my wife I wouldn’t go back on Carnival if they paid us .. Don’t say you weren’t warned…
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was quick and easy.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
We went on the Carnival Panorama in 2020 before COVID and the food was pretty good. This time in 2024 there’s a BIG difference. Way less variety. Lots of salt and oil. Way more fried food which equals cheaper for the cruise line.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Carnival always has multiple activities going on.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment is good as well.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Kids program is excellent.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Here’s where things get bad. I would say this is a 50-50 split. Half of the crew is friendly and outgoing and the other half has an attitude problem and doesn’t care about Customer Service . I have a theory on this. Cruise lines have the tips automatically deducted while you’re on board so there’s really no incentive for the crew to go above and beyond what’s required because they already have their tips. So there is a general attitude non-helpfulness and even rudeness occasionally.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
Once again, this ties into laziness, complacency, and the crew already getting their tips. There’s just a feeling of not wanting to go above and beyond. It feels very blah. But then again, this should have nothing to do with the ships cleanliness. There was numerous cups and trash, rolling around the pool deck and subsequent areas all throughout the cruise. We had to call management to have the cabin steward clean our room multiple times because he didn’t do it right.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The family Harbor Staterooms are great. There’s two bathrooms and they are very spacious. The only reason I didn’t give it Five stars was because all of us got stuffy noses and sore throats due to the fact that they don’t clean the HVAC filters inside the cabin. I verified this with my little flashlight. As soon as you open the door, there’s a vent uptake that’s behind the door and the louvers point downward. If you look inside there, you’ll see how dusty and dirty they are. They were clogged with dust and debris. This is a relatively new ship so it shouldn’t be that way. Disgusting.
Ship tip
If you’re sick and tired of being around the lower element of the world, and I mean, ghetto people, then this is definitely not the ship for you. I mean, it’s the lowest of the lowest class people yelling, screaming cussing dressing provocatively. Just no boundaries, class, or self-respect at all. Obviously this doesn’t apply to all of the passengers, but I would say honestly probably a good 40% which intern ruined it for the rest of the 60%..
Disembarkation was a complete disaster. We waited around for hours to wait for our number to be called and it was never called. Then I happen to look over the side of the ship and just seen people walking off the gangway leisurely, so I told my wife and kids “let’s go we’re leaving”, and we just left. Nobody told us anything. There was no organization. It was beyond ridiculous. I’ve been on 21 Cruises starting in the early 1980s and I’ve never seen a more ridiculous disembarkation than the Carnival Panorama debacle.
That’s what happens when you choose a cheap, 3 -4 day booze cruise out of Long Beach during the summer! Awesome cruises are at least a week or more (or 20+ days) during the school year, I won’t sail on Carnival any other way and I’ve been on 13+ cruises all over the world.
I appreciate your review. Sad to hear you did not have a good time. Sometimes there are people like that but a wise person once told me you can’t change their attitudes or behaviors but you can change yours. It’s a big ship and sometimes you just have to find a new spot to relax and not let those things ruin your vacation.
Wow, what a harsh review, my family have been on 12 Carnival cruises and have never experienced anything you just went through, on every cruise the ship is constantly being cleaned, tables are always cleaned in a timely manner, we have seen the odd rude and loud cruiser but not to your extreme, totally disagree with your comment on Carnival, if that’s your last Carnival cruise I guess I will never run into you, I will still enjoy my future Carnival cruises
I have been on over a dozen Carnival cruises and I have never experienced anything like what was described in this review. We've never felt like we were with an undesirable element and rarely, if ever, encountered a significant number of staff that were unfriendly.
Appreciate your feedback. Food has not reached the same level as before Covid. In the beginning it was a problem with supply now it’s probably a problem with affordability (just like in your own home). Sorry you were unable to find enjoyable moments.
I’ve noticed the demographic change since Covid. I’m not sure if this is because of the crazy low prices these cruises were being offered at about a year ago, or the pandemic changing peoples behavior. I definitely don’t let it ruin anything for me. I do hope that things change for the better in the future though. Happy Cruising.
