Review summary

We were hesitant to book a Carnival cruise as we heard stories of it being a party cruise line. However, we took a chance and did it, and we're so happy we did! We had a great time and there was something to do for everyone. Despite a full ship, our encounter with all ship personnel was pleasant and great and the ship was always clean. We loved it so much that we're already looking to book our next cruise. We can't speak for any of the other Carnival ships, but we highly recommend Carnival Panorama!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived at the cruise terminal at our boarding time and went from the terminal to the ship in about 30 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food in the main dining rooms was good but the rate at which we received our food was slow. We'd sometimes wait 30-45 min to get our food. Wait staff was great though and very courteous. We frequented different bars and all were great and the bartenders awesome!

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The musician/DJs were great and the themed parties were so much fun for all ages. It would've be nice though if some of the themed parties were during the day so our kids could've joined. Many of them were at 10pm-10:30pm. We watched one stage show and it was just okay - not something our kids enjoyed too much. We enjoyed the comedy shows and highly recommend them.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great customer service from all ship personnel - from the waiters to the room stewards.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was very clean. The common area bathrooms were ALWAYS clean, which was great.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were concerned an interior room for a family of 4 (with a 12 and 13 yr old) would be too cramped. However, it didn't feel like it at all. Beds were very comfortable and our room steward, Jeff, always made sure our cabin was clean.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

We did the boat, beach, and shopping excursion on day one and the ATV excursion on day two, both through the Carnival cruise line, and had an awesome time on both! Highly recommended.

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did the zipline excursion through Carnival and had a great time!

Disembarkation

Very smooth. Went from ship to the parking lot in about 30 minutes.

Generally speaking it’s the shorter cruises (3-5 days) that seem to bring out the negative aspects of partying on ships. Regardless of the line. I’ve noticed more drunks on NCL as nearly everyone seems to have the drink package though nothing terrible thankfully.
