Review summary

Do not use United to book your cruise. We had so many problems that luckily I caught. But the cruise was a blast!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Super easy. No line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The buffet wasn't as flavorful. But the specialty restaurants and dining room was delicious!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Not much options. We mostly spent time at the pool but there was always plenty of room.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I enjoyed the comedy shows!

Children's Programs

My child didn't participate

5 out of 5
Always such great service!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything is always very clean

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Perfect size for for 2 adults and 1 child. Very clean and always had clean pool towels.

Ship tip

It's a smaller ship. Not as many activities. Go to the shows. And try new foods.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
We stayed at the Queen Mary and did the ghost tour. So fun!

Catalina Island, California

5 out of 5
I love Catalina Island. I want to come back and visit and stay for a week. We didn't do any excursions because we had too many little kids in our group.

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
So much better than the first time we visited. We walked the pier and ate delicious food!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Not a very long wait. We walked off with our bags.

Actually, United is actually not the airline, but one of 40+ phone numbers/webpages that are part of World Travel Holdings (you can google the partner list on WTH). I found out from one of their phone agents that they can get a call from any one of those numbers and they process the perks as related to that one. Like any service group, you have great people and people who do the bare minimum, and not necessarily correctly either. I have used the Marriott line 3 times. Once (my first cruise) was great, he actually made suggestions that made the trip better. Several years ago I got one that I had to keep calling back to correct his errors and omissions, and we did not get the room we signed up for when we boarded. The bad thing about this? Most of them are not trained travel agents, many have never cruised! But if you know what you are doing, you can get some nice perks or points like we did for our Marriott rewards points.
