Review summary

We’ve been on a lot of cruises and always enjoy the Mexican Riviera. People are friendly and always happy. Carnival cruises are awesome. Only negative is the smoke filled casino onboard. Non smokers nightmare.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
San Diego is the easiest for embarkation. The staff were plentiful and welcoming. Embarkation was a breeze.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Breakfast was always delicious with many choices. Steakhouse was delightful. The alchemy bar was refreshing to try a high quality martini.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The serenity deck was nice. Pools are small and jacuzzis were too crowded.

Entertainment

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent customer service throughout the ship. The crew goes above and beyond to satisfy the guests.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Clean. The crew is constantly cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin is large and laid out nicely. The balcony was large. Thermostat had problems as we couldn’t get it warmer.

Ship tip

Bring $1 bills for tips. We always bring $100 in cash to tip bartenders, waitstaff and crew. It puts a smile on the hardworking staff.

Ports of call

San Diego, California

5 out of 5
This is no doubt Américas finest city.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
We’ve been here several times. It’s a pretty port but can be small. We walked to an all-inclusive resort and it was wonderful.

Mazatlan, Mexico

5 out of 5
Mazatlan is a fun city. Even if you don’t go on an excursion it’s fun to hang out in the welcome area. We did a fabulous tour to Stone Island, rode horseback and rented an ATV.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
Took a $4 taxi ride to the Malacon boardwalk. It’s pretty and fun. The people asking for money didn’t bother us. I bought some jewelry on the street. We found a spot for drinks and got fresh dozen oysters from someone on the beach for $8. Delicious. We went to our favorite restaurant and had grilled lobster, tortillas, beans, salsa and mango margaritas with a shot of Patron.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy debarkation. Instructions were simple. No long lines. Ride share was super easy to find.

When you boarded the ship in San Diego did you arrive early and were able to board early? My boarding time is 12:30 I was just wondering if they actually do allow people on earlier than their boarding time. We’ve gone out of Long Beach before but never out of San Diego.
