Review summary

Had good time reconnecting with an old friend and share new memories. Was disappointed that the ship was in such bad shape for her first cruise but since she had nothing to compare it to, she was not disappointed. I appreciated the fact that the cruise director did not get on every morning at the crack of dawn to run down the days activities and we could sleep in if we wanted without being disturbed. You are given a daily guide in your room of all activities so never understood why they felt it necessary to make those announcements.

Embarkation

Great. Walked right up, had pic taken, all cards and docs are waiting in your mailbox at your stateroom.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Carnival has the best food of all the cruise lines by far!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Did some trivia but just wanted to relax and not really to participate in a activities.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Nightly shows by the playlist crew were good. Some of the other entertainers left a bit to be desired. One guy was “killing cats”! Two of the best entertainers were passengers who sang with a group on the lobby every now and then and a lady who played the piano in front of Fr Frankenstein Lab bar.

Children's Programs

No kids with me

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was one of the best I’ve seen. Went above and beyond. Dining staff always helped carry plates or served those with mobility issues at the buffet. They worked long hours yet always smiling and ready to fulfill your every wish.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The ship was tired to say the least. Throwback to the original gaudy designs associated with early Carnival ships. Was glad to hear this one is going in for a refurbishment in February. Much needed.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The entrance is always tight with the bathroom door opposite the closets. Hope this is worked out with the new design coming. A pocket door or divided sliding door on the bathroom would alleviate that congestion. Also the air conditioning was in the wall with unmovable vents that just blasted the person sleeping on the left side of the room no matter how low you turned it down. But the room attendant kept it all very clean and had what we needed.

Ship tip

Wait until it is refurbished. Very old, neglected looking. But the crew is great and food excellent.

Ports of call

George Town, Grand Cayman

I always like to take a touring excursion of the area to get a feel for the people and culture. Was my third trip there but my friend’s first so wanted to take her to Hell! We visited the turtle farm too.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
We went to the beach area at the port did not take an excursion. Had a few hours on the sun until it rained. Only rain day and it was on our beach day!

Belize City, Belize

Took another area tour and stopped at the rum factory. Guide was very knowledgeable, group was small ( which I love) so was good tour.

Cozumel, Mexico

Didn’t go beyond the port, this was our shopping day and then relaxing by the pool.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Don’t have words to describe. Was best ever had. Very organized, no one waiting and jamming up hallways. Relaxed breakfast then walked right down and off. Ship cleared out an hour ahead of schedule. Luggage area in port was very easy to find. Only wait was getting through customs line but we had plenty of time before our flight.

Refurbishment doesn't change designs. Cabins are prefab units, they aren't going to be removed. The general design isn't going to change, it will still have the original design influence.
