Review summary

We enjoyed the ship, but the wifi kept going out. Dinners were the best, but we really enjoyed tea time and brunch although these were not available every day. The shops on board were nice, and I liked the fact that they had discounted pricing on some days but it would be nice to have a few more shops to have a bit more variety. One of our neighbors was smoking. It would be nice if there was a way to address this immediately. Overall we would recommend the cruise to others as we enjoyed ourselves and were able to relax on our balcony, which we loved.

Embarkation

Everything ran smoothly and we boarded the ship very quickly. Wouldn't change a thing.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food in the dining room was excellent. This ship didn't have as many specialty restaurants as other ships. But we did enjoy our dinners, tea time, and brunches in the dining room.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We were trying to play along with the Clue game, which we enjoyed. But we missed part of the first presentation and would like to have seen a recording of it playing in the cabin, but we did not. The musicians on board were very good and we enjoyed listening to Doug play the piano. Tessa's shopping and gem gatherings were also quite nice. We learned a lot about diamonds, etc.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We didn't watch many of the shows, but we did enjoy the performance of the clue crew. Also, some of the singers, piano players were good.

Children's Programs

My daughter really enjoyed Camp Carnival. However, there was a councilor, by the name of Mr Taco that I had issue with. Apparently, they put on a rated PG movie that we did not want our child to watch, and when she attempted to explain that to him, he simply shrugged it off. She was so uncomfortable while the movie was on that she told me she was hiding behind a pillar. In a case like this, I would like to have been contacted to come pick her up, or at least for my daughter to be given another activity to do. I was very surprised, as part of the responsibility of the councilors is to make sure that the children in their care as safe and comfortable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward was excellent. Also, our table service team - Team Headwaiter Peter, Team Waiter Dejan, and Assistant Team Waiter Nyoman were very attentive, and often had our preferences ready for us when we entered the dining room. Excellent service! Especially in the dining room!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was very clean, and we enjoyed looking for ducks around the ship. The design was nice, but as it's an older ship, it lacked some of the nicer touches of the new ships. These would include some of the zip line activities or specialty restaurants.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We loved our cabin. We have never stayed in one nicer. However, there was a leak and the carpet was wet in the closet, and by the bed. Because of this, we were forced to deal with two large fans that were put into the room for about 3 days. Also, there was something wrong with the temperature in the shower. It would run at a good temperature and then switch over to scalding hot water and then back to normal again. We called guest services and they sent several people to attempt to fix the problem. The metal shower unit in the shower was changed twice. The second time apparently was a new unit, and it finally worked correctly. On speaking with one of our neighbors we discovered they were having the same problem with their shower. This was finally fixed toward the end of the cruise after everyone in our cabin had been burned on more than one occasion.

Ship tip

Be sure to use the wifi towards the center of the ship.

This one was a bit dirty, but ok. We got off as soon as we got to port, only to discover everything was closed, so we waited around for quite a while before we could go to any of the shops. No excursion.

The shops were nice and I liked that they were close by. But I didn't want to travel outside the port as I heard it could be dangerous. No excursion.

Cozumel, Mexico

This was my favorite port. Lots of great shopping. A cool restaurant with swings. And a variety of jewelry shops. This is where we did most of our shopping. We enjoyed this one a lot. No excursion.

Disembarkation

We got off the cruise very quickly. So quickly, in fact that we had to wait for our ride to pick us up because they thought we would be out later!
