Review summary

Overall I was happy with the ports and the cruise itself. I want to try sailing with Carnival again, but on something newer with more to do on the ship itself. The most off putting thing about this ship was the food, it was terrible.

Embarkation

This was my first time leaving out of Tampa, FL. I have previosuly left from Port Canaveral and Miami, but this was the easiest embarkment by far.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
This was by far the worst food I've experienced on any cruise I've gone on. The buffet was a joke; you can't call 4 stations a buffet. The entire food system on board seemed understaffed for what was there. there was one guy making sandwiches and one guy making pizza for the entire ship. Lines so long that it wasn't worth waiting 30 minutes for a half of pizza or a sandwich. The buffet food was just left overs from the main dining. Main dining food was okay. Twice my wife and I had to get up and walk out because the food was inedible. Wait times were ridiculous. The drinks were okay. Again, waiting around trying to get a drink was rather annoying, and forget about anyone tending to you while you're at the pools. It was faster to get out of the pool or hot tub and get the drinks yourself.

24-Hour Room Service

What a joke. How can something be called a buffet with a salad bar, a pizza station with one guy making 1000 plus pizzas a day, a sandwich station, again one guy making 1000 plus sandwiches a day, and 2 of the smallest options for food. It wasn't until the 3rd day that my wife and I figured out the buffet was just left overs from main dining. And the hours we beyond ridiculous. How can any establishment feed 2000 plus people if they're closed? Lunch ends at 2pm, lets give our hungry guest either a pressed sandwich, which you wait 30 minutes plus on or a tiny pizza which you wait 30 minutes for, because we can't keep the world's smallest buffet open. What a joke. I've cruised with plenty of other ships and this was by far the biggest disappointment and let down of any ship I've been on.

Onboard Activities

This ship literally has nothing to do besides a couple of pools which were always packed and a casino, which again was always packed.

Entertainment

The lip sync battle was the best performance on board by far. The cruise director made what little shows available awesome. The Dj was a complete joke. How can a "dj" play music at a club and see everyone leave the dance floor and not change the music, that's not a dj. Other than the comedians on board, there was nothing else to do. The comedians were super funny and interacted great with the crowd, but you were forced to come to the show an hour prior just to get a seat, if not you were stuck standing up or missing the show. The theater right above the comedy lounge would have been more than sufficient to accommodate for the amount of people attending the show, but it was never moved.

Children's Programs

I did not cruise with any children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This was my first cruise where the staff on board were so friendly and approachable, it made the overall experience better.

Ship Quality

The layout and design were very out dated and putting off. The common areas, bars, pools, casino, etc.. were ok, but it needs to be updated and designed to accommodate more people.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We went for the extended cabin for the first time and I thought overall it was well worth it. The extra space was nice. My wife and I love seating on our balcony at port calls and seeing the views and watching the sunset, so it was nice having a little more room as it wasn't so crowded. The bed was the best we've slept on. Best night sleep on a cruise hands down.

Ship tip

Do your research on the ship. This was our smallest we've ever traveled on, and it wasn't for us.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We went on an atv run through the jungle, it was awesome, I highly recommend doing it, Cozumel has so much to offer, it's my favorite port.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
We went snorkeling here and it was very well worth the money we spent and we had an amazing time. The island we were taken too was amazing.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

We went zip lining through the jungle and visited a beach. Zip lining was amazing and we had a blast. The beach we went to was Paradise beach. It was nice, but way too much people on the beach trying to sell crap and tours. Overall it was nice, but I would have rather visited the beach next to our dock, it looked nicer and less crowded.

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

We've been here before and I am not fond of the tender process.
