Review summary

All in all it was a nice cruise. Food was decent, our cabin was comfy, and service was good. It is an older ship and we weren't completely thrilled with the layout, but so what! Food was decent and we liked the ports.

Embarkation

Went very smoothly and relatively fast!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I've been on multiple cruises and several on Carnival. The food in the dining room was much better than I expected. The buffet's were good, but seemed a little disorganized in layout. I felt like we had to walk in several circles to see what there was to eat before selecting. We purchased the Soda package and I won't do that again! You had to find an open bar and wait in line just to get juice for the kids! Just not worth it! They provide Iced Tea, Coffee, and Lemonade for free. We will stick to that next time. They offered Sushi for a small charge. Prices were reasonable and the Sushi was honestly excellent!

Bonsai Sushi Express

5 out of 5

Prices were about what you would pay at any Sushi restaurant. The Sushi was excellent...and I eat a lot of Sushi!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I felt activities were somewhat limited for our 11 year old. She was at the top end of the age limit for the kids center and not old enough for the teenage center. Most everything else, such as comedians, etc were geared to an adult crowd.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Hard to rate because we did not take advantage of much entertainment.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
The age categories are 0-11 and 12-17. My daughter is 11 and the kids club was geared towards little kids. So we did not use. Looking forward to seeing what they offer after she turns 12.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Waiters were excellent!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It's an older ship so not much you can do about the layout. I have a respiratory issue and wasn't happy having to walk through a smoky casino to reach the dining room. The buffets were laid out in such a way that you had to walk in circles to first see what food was available before ordering.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
I liked our cabin and it's location. However, had some cleanliness issues here! We noticed the shower had hair on the walls on the first day....and oddly enough the hair was never removed during our entire week. Also, I like to rinse out some clothes during a cruise and hang on the shower clothes line. This one was funny though! The cord was too short to reach the other side so it was unusable.

Ship tip

I would not buy the Soda package unless you can't live without soda and did not bring your own. You could only fill up after waiting in line at an open bar. Very inconvenient!!

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
We are locals so didn't do anything in Long Beach, but it is a great place to check out the Queen Mary if you have time.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
Beautiful, stunning, beach front area. We did a tour which was interesting. But we could have just easily gotten off the ship and wandered around and lay on the beach.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
I love shopping in Puerta Vallarta!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Off the ship with no delays.
