Review summary

We have cruised Carnival before so were expecting the best and they delivered on most of our expectations. As always the staff was above and beyond in their friendliness and helpfulness. The ports of call were great with a variety of shore excursions to choose from. Our biggest complaint was the food in the main dining room. While I wouldn't consider any of it "bad" it was not what it could have been. Maybe we just hit an off week or have different tastes than general America, but we ended up hitting the pizza bar most nights after the meal. **The other thing that irked us about this cruise actually had nothing to do with carnival and everything to do with the other guests who had absolutely no concept of smart casual wear and formal wear. Jeans and t shirts are not smart casual wear...just as your Sunday church clothes are not formal wear."

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

We did the ATV Jungle ride in this port and had a great time. There is a lot of shopping to do along this pier along with some great restaurants.

George Town, Grand Cayman

In hindsight it is best to do a shore excursion...even if it's just one that drives you to the beach. The downtown shopping area is small and access to a public beach is hard to find.

Belize City, Belize

We did the Canoeing, Wine Tasting, and City tour excursion at this port and it was by far our favorite. Again not a lot of beach access, but good shopping. Belize boasts the 2nd largest coral reef in the world (Austraulia is first).

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Absolutely noting to do here if you don't go on a shore excursion, however there is beach access and if you get there early and snag some chairs under the shade you can comfortably lay out all day long. Food and beverages can be purchased beach side from a local restaurant who has waiters wandering about all day. It was our favorite day because we were able to snooze, read, play in the ocean and have our favorites delivered right to us!

Pros: The Staff

Cons: The Food
