Review summary

Despite booking a suite, overall my trip was consistent with the common perception of Carnival being a lower tier cruise line.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Instructions on where to check in were not clear. The lines were not moved efficiently.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Steakhouse was very good. Main dining room, meh. The wait for a seated breakfast was ridiculously long, 45-60 minutes on average despite the Hub app saying to expect half that amount of time. Children were allowed to sit at the bars.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The pools were nice.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Stage shows good, the performers in various bars were mostly okay. One group was pretty bad.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
Children should not be allowed to sit at the bars!

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Most were good, a few were not very attentive. Some servers had such strong accents it was difficult to understand what they were saying.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Used glasses, food containers, etc. were left in the corridors for long periods of time. Not enough elevators.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was comfortable but the lack of electrical outlets near the bed made using a CPAP unnecessarily difficult. The tub/shower was very nice. The light switches were confusing.

Ship tip

Plan on extremely long lines to board, disembark, and have a seated breakfast. Everything depends on the Hub app, but the wifi is spotty and often unreliable thus causing frustration with the Hub.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Took a very long time. Notification of group numbers were via the Hub app but it didn’t indicate what group was currently disembarking or otherwise give an estimate of when my turn would come. I did not perceive any special treatment from having a suite or being a VIFP.
