Review summary

Anything negative really has to do with the passengers rather than the cruise itself. Any time you have that many people together you are going to encounter rude, entitled people. We did meet many nice people though. The employees were so kind and hard working. The one thing that bothered us, and maybe it's because we're getting older, was the gluttony of some people. We've never seen so much untouched food being thrown away. Why do people pile their plates high knowing they can't eat it all? I can only imagine what the employees are thinking, many of whom come from countries where they may not have enough food to eat, when they are scraping off food that hasn't even been touched into the trash. Lastly, like I commented in another section above, the very last night of our cruise was very frightening due to weather sailing back to Miami and observing employees at 2 am vacuuming up water that the ship apparently took on right outside our stateroom!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
There were a lot of people, and we were worried since we didn't purchase FTTF this time, but it was surprisingly quick and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
They were about as we expected -- good to average

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We mostly tried to relax when we weren't in Port so didn't really do any "activities" per se.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the entertainment, musicians, bands, Karaoke, etc.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone went above and beyond. They are such a hard-working group of people.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
This ship was a little bigger than the past ones we've been on. There was a lot of walking, but that is to be expected.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
This was only the second time we have stayed on the Lido Deck, and it was very convenient. We were worried about noise because you walked out our stateroom door and through another door straight in front which led into the Lido Deck area. We did hear some noise a few times, but it wasn't unbearable until our very last night when we were sailing back and encountered horrible, scary weather, and we were awake all night. At 2 am we heard loud talking and vacuums running (!) outside our stateroom and when looking through the peep hole saw workers vacuuming up water from the carpet! There was no announcement or warning that water had come in somehow during the storm. The carpet right inside our stateroom, near the door, was also wet as well as around our bed. It was very unsettling, and we'd never encountered anything like it on past cruises we had taken with Carnival.

Ship tip

In the future we would probably choose a newer ship to sail on if we ever sail on Carnival again. This was our seventh, and next time we might choose to try another cruise line to compare the differences.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
This was our third visit here

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

We have been to many islands in the Caribbean but never here so we were glad to go somewhere different.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
This was our third visit to this island, and the only time we didn't take an excursion.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We carried off our luggage for the first time ever so we got off early.
