Review summary

Rerouted from Bermuda to Freeport. Carnival gave $100 OBC to each stateroom for the inconvenience and refunded the difference in port taxes/fees. Overall, we made the best of it.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
We parked at Cedar Grove Lot and then we were bused to the port terminal. Overall, it was an efficient process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
MDR is ok, depending on what you order. Specialty dining was excellent. Guys Burgers and Blue Iguana are consistently good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Kids loved Waterworks and Sports Square. My husband and I enjoyed the Cloud9 thermal suite.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Music at the pool was good, but at times overly loud. The daily activities kept changing for one reason or another. Best activities were on our port day.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My 6 year old loved Camp Ocean. She made so, so many handmade bracelets and necklaces. My 9 year old enjoyed some activities more than others. Dance parties and video games were a hit, while BINGO was a miss.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
All staff and service was great! Highlights were Kumang as our room steward, Lavina at the steakhouse, and Bipin at the italian restaurant.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Very clean. The ship is showing some age...starting to lose some of her magic.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
We enjoyed the Cloud9 spa balcony and the thermal suite access. It was a convenient location to Waterworks, Camp Ocean, and Lido deck.

Ship tip

Avoid starboard side and aft of the ship if you are non-smoker, especially on decks 10, 11, and 12.

Ports of call

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

2 out of 5
Unfortunately, we were rerouted from Bermuda to Freeport, Bahamas due to a tropical storm. Weather was beautiful in Freeport; but it is the industrial capital of the Bahamas, so very little scenery. We booked an all-inclusive resort day at the Wyndham Viva through Carnival.

Norfolk, Virginia

3 out of 5
If Norfolk is to become a major cruise port, it needs more infrastructure.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Poor. Everyone rushed the gangway at 7 am and did not follow the groupings/times as requested by the staff. Elevators and escalator was out of service in the port terminal.
