Review summary

Bimini is a great beach day! Started out raining but who cares you’re at the beach! Used the free beach right by the pier. Get out there early though, it can get crowded! Our 4th trip to Nassau. Just walked around the shops. Don’t buy from the first vendor/shop you go into! Shop around, prices go down the further you are from the docks. We didn’t get off in Freeport. Didn’t appear to be anything to do near the docks, looked very industrial.

Embarkation

We opted for a later check in, 2:00. Arrived at the port via Asphalt Lots out of Chesapeake at exactly 2:00. Only took about 5 minutes to get through security. Security was also very understanding with my 6 yr old who didn’t want her lovee to “go through the dark tunnel by himself.” Overall less than 20 minutes to get on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We tried to stick to the main dining room for dinner. Most meals were decent. Can’t go wrong with a steak! The portions are much smaller than I remember pre-Covid. Guys Burgers never disappoints. Pizza is always an easy go to. The burrito bowl at the Cantina was awesome! The Cuban in the deli was good. We try to avoid a carb loaded breakfast, omelets are a great option. Great opportunity to try something new too: frog legs, gator beignets, escargot….

Onboard Activities

Water Works was awesome! Our 6yr old daughter loved it! Pools were almost always crowded on sea days. The trivia was fun. The arcade has been renovated to primarily all electronic game, no more ski ball.

Water Works

Our daughter loved!! There was an attendant present to monitor kids on the slide. Easy to keep an eye on your own child.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Overall entertainment was great. 3 out of 4 comedians were hilarious. 1 was was just funny. The Magic Band was great, very talented. Love the violin group in the main lobby! 2 theater type shows. I enjoyed the country show but my husband not so much. We both loved the America Rocks show. We saw the same show 4 yrs ago, also on the Magic, this current one was a hundred times better!! Performers were top notch!

Children's Programs

This is about 2nd cruise using Camp Ocean and we couldn’t be happier! Our daughter is 6 yr old and had so much fun. When given the option for a day at the beach or going to camp, she chose camp. If you are concerned about allergies (peanut), don’t be! The staff is aware and attentive to allergies. We are so grateful to the Camp Ocean staff!

Service and Staff

Best bartender: Robby at the main bar in the lobby! Quick with your drink, always remembers your favorite, and always had a smile! Best waiter: June, who is all over the place! Very interactive with our daughter. Great personality. Our room steward was good too. Saw him once a day now, since changes have been made. Super kind and not pushy about getting us out of the cabin to tidy up.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Overall clean ship. Only common area mess appeared after some rowdy teens came running through. Our bathroom cabin could use deep cleaning for the shower head, which would drastically improve the water pressure. Public bathrooms were well kept with one exception: the bathroom at the Beaches pool.

Cabin / Stateroom

Great cabin! Love the large window! Plenty of space for our family of 3. If you are hot at night, bring a fan! Water pressure was not great but a good cleaning of the shower head could help that. Someone mentioned hearing the engines, but I didn’t find it bothersome. Kind of a minor purr. Great location too. Halfway between the midship and aft elevators. But remember if you are going to the Northern Lights dining room, walk all the way down to the forward elevators!

Ship tip

To go to the Northern Lights dining room, use the forward elevators or stairs!

Disembarkation

Quickest disembarkation ever! We opted to pick up our luggage in the terminal. Super smooth process. People who chose to get off early carried their luggage and were called by muster stations. Then the remaining were called by luggage zone number. Luggage was well organized. Once in line to disembark, we were out within 10 minutes at the most. Didn’t even have to stop with customs! And definitely appreciated a good breakfast!
