Review summary

First time traveling North. I will NOT do so again in late September. Would love to do this trip again in warmer weather. If that actually exists in Eastetn Canada.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation went smoothly. Preparation for getting on the ship was nerve racking. Particularly testing requirements and Canadian immigration.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Liddo deck breakfast was not very good, in my opinion. Lunch and dinner on Liddo was good. Main dining was excellent. Good variety and servers were friendly and engaging.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
"Shows" we attended were not shows. Group of singers sat on bar stools and took turns singing. Entertaining, but not what we are used to. Lobby violin trio...EXCELLENT. Comedy club always a winner. Cruise Director Ryan Rose did a great job trying to engage passengers. Wet/cold weather put a real damper on his abilities to get everyone involved.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All ship staff we connected with were engaging, professional and likable.

Disembarkation

The easiest debarkation I have ever experienced! Fast getting off the ship and too my vehicle.

I did this route in early September and it was hot at times. Try booking the earliest they sell it but you also may have to look at lines that start the canada season earlier like royal or norwegian.

Weather is wacky. I live in Alberta and it still feels like summer. 27 Celsius today. The east coast tends to be warmer - at least in Ontario. Sorry you didn’t have a good experience but it isn’t the norm. Now you have a reason to come back 😉

Thanks for that tip about weather. I’m looking to do a Northeastern cruise. I’ll make sure to plan for summer.

Unfortunately Hurricane Fiona really wrecked havoc to the Canadian Maritime area causing unusually cold wet weather to be pushed in front of the impending storm first before slamming almost the entirety of Nova Scotia. More common for northbound cruises mid-Sept are complaints that the weather was still too warm for fall color changes to he seen.

Mother Nature can be frustrating when cruising. Appreciate your feedback.

We made a similar trip and left out on September 16, 2016 and it was in the 80s all week. It was very windy the entire trip though. It’s just the normal swings in the weather I guess.
