$200 FOR COVID TESTS WHEN WE WERE TOLD AT THE EMBARKATION PROCESS THAT THERE WAS NO CHARGE FOR COVID TESTS. THEN 3 DAYS LATER WE SEE $200 FOR 2 COVID TESTS. ROBBERY! THOSE SAME TESTS ARE FREE AT CVS AND WALGREENS NEARBY. IT WAS ONLY 12:00PM AND I COULD HAVE DON THAST BUT CARNIVAL TOLD US IT WAS FREE. PLUS IF WE WERE POSITIVE CARNIVAL WOULD BE OUT $5,000 WE PAID FOR OUR CRUISE.

BRING YOUR 12 PACK OF POP / SODAS PER PERSON. MAKE SURE BOTH PEOPLE IN YOUR CABIN DRINK EXCESSIVELY. GO ON AN ADULT CRUISE. CANNOT RELAX WITH KIDS EVERYWHERE AND NO POOL OR HOT TUB TO GO TO WITHOUT KIDS IN IT!
UNSAFE. SMOKING DRUGS AND BEGGING YOU TO BUY DRUGS AND RUM PUNCH THE WHOLE TIME. UNLESS YOU LEAVE THE CARNIVAL AREA, THERE SHOULD BE NO RUN INS WITH THE LOCALS DOING ILEGAL STUFF AND CONSTANTLY TRYING TO GET MY WIFE AND I TO DO ILLEGAL DRUGS AS WELL. ALSO, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED $200 REFUND FROM CANCELLED HORSE AND ZIPLINE TOUR DUE TO THE WEATHER.
I was also on this same sailing. It was my first cruise and I didn’t have any problems. I was impressed the whole time by the crew, the food and the ship in general. Do 10 minutes of research and save some hassle. And it only rained for the first hour at Amber Cove then the sun came out.
Do you remember in high school when the teacher said, “Read all of the directions before starting the assignment.”? I am guessing you didn’t do very well on those exams. Everything you are complaining about is CLEARLY explained on the website and on the boarding documents.
Carnival is not responsible for any of this…

Just got off Magic. Guys good, MDR I guess I just kept ordering wrong didn’t like, Pizza nasty, Steakhouse lamb chops good sides are awful, breakfast southern lights good, Mongolian wok terrible, seafood shack nope. Buffett no seasoning on food at all. Deli nope, Mexican place just had breakfast burrito probably better if it wasn’t so chilly on lido deck food cold, Italian restaurant LOVED IT!!
I was on the same ship at the same time, but I had a completely different cruise. Sounds like poor planning and not reading the FAQ for most of the post. All the bartenders I encountered (all over the ship) were never rude. I got great service. We’re they overwhelmed at times? Definitely!! But I always received service with a smile. As far as the excursion refund, it was pouring down the rain in the DR. Refunds were offered (I was surprised!) but I’m sure it would take longer than a week since coming back from the cruise. They had us sign the back of our tickets we were still willing to go on the excursion. Someone will have to go through all those tickets by hand. There were a lot of rude butts on this cruise being horrible to the staff. My opinion is the Magic is a great ship! A lot of places to sit inside and out and had good crowd flow. The comedy club accommodated more people than on the other ships I’ve been on. I am excited to sail on her again in October.
After reading this review I'm kinda scared to sail on the Magic. I'm going to those same ports of call. I certainly do want to be bothered with beggars or drugs. What happened with the excursion? Was it cancelled?
This is actually a helpful review in that it points out how important it is to do your research. We recently completed our first Carnival cruise on the Magic with no surprises, but I'm a nerd and did a lot of planning. We were vaxed and boosted, so we took our Covid test and got the results before we got on the plane. We also bought the insurance. Did the math and knew the drink package was not for us and spent way less. This shows how bad surprises can ruin the entire trip for someone. Sorry that you didn't have a good time. I hope Carnival works with you on refunds or credits.
Sounds as if somebody did not do their due diligence prior to purchasing any add-ons. Also nowhere does it state at Carnival's website or in its HUB app that the required pre-travel Covid testing is free. Even the boarding day required at the port second testing for unvaccined children is disclosed as having a charge that will be assessed on the S&S card.
Minus the refund for the canceled port, the charges you are disputing are clearly marked. When purchasing Cheers, you knew it was for both guests in the cabin when purchased. If one guest didn’t drink alcohol, why purchase the package? That’s on you. No where have I read on Carnival’s website where it states guests will receive free Covid testing. If this were the case, all 4,000 guests would be lined up for testing. Reminder, the cruise lines have struggled through covid probably more than any other in the travel and entertainment industries. Not everything is going to be perfect right away. Maybe look at other options for future travel.
